Queen of the Hanukkah Dosas
Queen of the Hanukkah Dosas | Pamela Ehrenberg
3 posts | 3 read | 1 to read
In this sweet and humorous picture book, a multi-cultural family (Mom's Indian; Dad's Jewish) celebrate Hanukkah while incorporating traditional Indian food. Instead of latkes, this family celebrates Hanukkah with tasty Indian dosas. To her brother's chagrin, little Sadie won't stop climbing on everything both at home and at the Indian grocery store, even while preparing the dosas. As the family puts the finishing touches on their holiday preparations, they accidentally get locked out of the house. Sadie and her climbing skills just may be exactly what is needed to save the day.

I‘ve read a lot of Jewish picture books since Maya was a baby, and this is the first one I‘ve seen about an interfaith family! This biracial, blended family makes dosas for Hanukkah, yum! The actual storyline is a bit lacking, but I love this diverse representation in Jewish children‘s literature. we need more of that, considering the majority of Jewish households in America are blended families like mine.

TheBookHippie https://pjourway.org/ we do this!!! It‘s wonderful! 5y

Latest #bookhaul from the library! Most of my remaining hold requests came in for the #bbrc #a2z #picturebook challenge, including 2 Hanukkah books I‘ve never read before! (Maybe, the dosa one sounds very familiar).

Still waiting on my V books, but hoping those will come in soon! Also picked up the book recommended by Maya‘s principal, and one of Katy Bowman‘s books. I want to try out her foot exercises to see if they help my plantar fasciitis.

Clare-Dragonfly I love Katy Bowman! I haven‘t read this one yet but I‘m working on the exercises from 5y
alisiakae @Clare-Dragonfly That is main one I want to read! It has been updated and the new edition is called 5y
Clare-Dragonfly I know, but my library doesn‘t have the updated version 😆 5y
