While I have read many spot books in my lifetime, I am not sure I have ever read the original Spot book. It is lovely to find a university library that has an original copy in almost pristine condition. It‘s a lovely short lift the flap story that has stood the test of time and will continue to live on into the future.

charl08 Oh this takes me back! My copy was not pristine (but much loved). 3y
LibrarianRyan @charl08 Except for the really ugly and old protective cover the library put over this, it was pretty much untouched, and it is an original volume. Their teacher program must not have been heavily used for such a classic to be untouched. 3y
CarolynM I read this (and many other Spot books) to my children SO MANY times! Still a favourite, and one of my go to gifts for new parents. 3y

“That Spot! He hasn‘t eaten his supper. Where can he be?”. This quote shows the whole reason we are looking for spot, yet is a very quick introduction. This book is clearly meant for very young children as the exposition is very short.

This book would be great for a preschool or elementary classroom. It teaches children more about spatial concepts by using words like under and behind. I would highly recommend reading this book since there are many ways to strike up a conversation from it.

Picture Books
This book is great. The book is very interactive for children and a great way to keep a conversation about a book. This book is short enough to keep a child‘s attention span while also being short enough for a parent to read over and over again. Some versions of this book come with flaps which is great for an interactive experience.

This picture book has flaps that make it more interesting and complex than a typical picture book.

Where‘s Spot? is a picture book written by Eric Hill. This is a fun, interactive book with a character Spot, a dog. This book has bright pictures that captures readers attention. It also has very little words so the pictures tell the simple story.

Day 4: Loved to Death
My kids loved the “lift-the-flap” books - especially this one. They wore it out quickly.

I caught the tiny human in the act of eating a book. I told you guys. She's just chillin' snacking on Spot, and listening to baby songs. She's so my child.

TobeyTheScavengerMonk My son removed every flap in that book. Now we just call it There's Spot. 7y

Josie @TobeyTheScavengerMonk hahahaha Lilah removed them too! The clock door is hanging on by a sliver, it probably won't last the day. 7y
readinginthedark 😂I think there's something about that book! My son was usually fine with flaps, but he tore that one up! 7y
Josie @readinginthedark it must be some instinct deep inside because I even wanted to tear them out lol it's very tempting. 7y

PenguinInFlight @Alfoster that's wonderful! ❤️ (My nephew actually called me "Book" when he first started talking because I was always bringing him books and reading to him, and "Bev" was harder to pronounce. ?) I don't have kids of my own - except the furry kind - so I dote on these guys, and my niece, who just turned 10. They all love books! 8y
Alfoster @PenguinInFlight That's awesome! Way to go "Books"!! 8y
