Full Disclosure | Stormy Daniels
10 posts | 7 read | 7 to read
She was already well-known in some circles before March 6, 2018, but that's probably the first time you heard the name Stormy Daniels. That's the day she filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump over a nondisclosure agreement negotiated before the election but never signed. How did Stormy Daniels become the woman willing to take on a president? What is it like to be reviled by some, held up as a beacon of hope by others, and to be an object of fascination to all?In this book, Stormy Daniels tells her whole story for the first time: about how she came to be a leading actress and director in the adult film business, the full truth about her journey from a rough childhood in Louisiana onto the national stage, and everything about the events that led to the nondisclosure agreement and the behind-the-scenes attempts to intimidate her.Stormy is funny, sharp, warm, and impassioned by turns. Her story is a thoroughly American one, of a girl who loved reading and horses and who understood from a very young age what she wanted--and who also knew she'd have to get every step of the way there on her own.People can't stop talking about Stormy Daniels. And they won't be able to stop talking about her fresh, surprising, completely candid, nothing-held-back book.

Planning to read a good chunk of this one on this #SockSunday.

So far, I‘ve learned that Stormy Daniels was a bookworm as a kid. This could‘ve been something any of us would say!

This is a really big pumpkin I got for 2.99 at Aldis.

Now to the book: I don't think this is doing too well, and people seem embarrassed to admit they're reading it. This book is funny and I think it's way better than the Amy Poehler type memoirs that people love.

Burghbookaddict I don't really like any celebrity memoirs. Most celebrities seem to think they're much more interesting then they actually are. 6y
crazyspine @BurghBookAddict true and writing a book is different than a show. 6y
Aseleener I just got my Aldi pumpkins the other day. 😄 2.69 at mine. They're huge! 6y
SleepyDragon What's an Amy Poehler type memoir? I haven't read hers, but I have read a few celebrity memoirs. 6y
crazyspine I felt like Amy Poehler spent a good chunk 9f her book talking about how she hated writing a book. There have been a couple of celebrity memoirs that are like that. 6y

On Friday, I was talking to my students about “voice.” I wanted them to enliven their writing so that their personalities shone through. I feel this is what this memoir does. There‘s barely been any focus on Daniels, the person and this book rectifies that. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Carissa-Green-Reads You are quite right about voice-especially in memoir. I was the “ghost writer” for a memoir someone in my community self-published, and making sure the manuscript consistently was her voice not mine was my number one goal. 6y
heidisreads Very good point!! Voice really matters in memoir. 6y

Reviews sound good, put up on my TBR list

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Right! How surreal the world has become. 6y
Tonton @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Too many WTFs and wondering if it‘s the Onion every morning when I read my newsfeed... 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Tonton Yes! The best proof I‘ve seen that reality must be a computer simulation, or part of a multiverse, because only in a reality where every possibility is expressed could we have ended up at this configuration with so many that‘s-not-possibles being true. 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Tonton @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Rachel Maddie recently said that she‘d be happy never to use the word “unprecedented” again. I concur! 6y

Oh boy! I bet that one will be “interesting” (huge air quotes there)

Seriously, who knew that a President who seems to dislike reading so much would inspire so many books!

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I can‘t believe I‘m the first one to post about this. 🤣 6y
GingerAntics I was just having the same thought about him not liking reading, but in just two years there is at least a full stack of books about him. Most presidents done get that many books until after they‘re out of office. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @GingerAntics Right! I started out swearing I wouldn‘t read any of them, now I feel like I need to read All of them.... but geez there is literally a new one ever 2 weeks. 6y

GingerAntics There really is. I‘m not sure many modern presidents have this many books about them, period. I don‘t want to read them, but at the same time the more of a tantrum he throws about each new book makes me believe there is more truth in them than we will ever get from him. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @GingerAntics The current one, Woodward‘s Fear is the first one I‘ve bought and am currently reading. His name I at least knew and somewhat trust journalistically. But I might just have to read Stormy Daniels. Omarosa‘s, I‘m not sure I can read her‘s, maybe if it‘s at the library for free later, she just seems more complicit to me. Russian Roulette by Isikoff I have on hold though, that one I‘ve heard is very good. 6y
CouronneDhiver He gives me a headache and I don‘t even live in the States. Lol 🤕 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @CouronneDhiver Right! It‘s just crazy. I couldn‘t stand him and his bombastic-ness way back in the 80‘s, now I have to pay attention to him whether I want to or not, because he just has too much power. 6y
MelissaSue81 Hmmm. Not sure I want to go there with this one. 🤦🏻‍♀️ 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage The article I read about this sounded like there will be a lot about her life and career outside of that encounter with Trump. Not sure I care enough about those topics. 6y
GingerAntics That‘s just about my thoughts on all of the books you mentioned. Omaroa‘s book isn‘t happening at my house. She was one his side, then not, then on his side again, now she‘s not again. 🙄 Woodward has a history of credibility that I can get behind. Stormy Daniels just seems like it might be an interesting read. lol 6y
GingerAntics @BarbaraTheBibliophage oh yeah, I don‘t care about that stuff. Not really interested in her career. She chose her career, it‘s a legal career, more power to her, just not all that interested in it myself. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BarbaraTheBibliophage @GingerAntics It‘s funny, I‘ve never considered myself a prude, but I can‘t honestly say I‘d be interesting in her book at any other time of my life.... but currently I have a President who is an associate of hers, and apparently knows her well, and because of him, she‘s now relevant to me, my country, and American history....scary thought right? She will literally be in history books about his Presidency, and his... (edited) 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa ..Presidency will be what put porn actresses in American History books. 🙄 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Washington the cherry tree & crossing the Delaware; Lincoln Civil War & freeing the slaves; Clinton Monica Lewinsky; Bush Katerina and 9/11; Trump Porn Stars, playboy bunnies, and Russia.🤷‍♀️ 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Haha. In a sad way. How do we explain this to fifth graders? They shouldn‘t have to learn about porn stars, but they will. Thanks to that nasty orange thing. 6y
AlaMich Ha! For all that he doesn‘t read (or probably even know how to, above maybe a 4th grade level), he sure has a lot of opinions about those books people write about him! 6y
