Such a quiet book about chaos, with beautiful moments of peace. Important representation of both queer issues and mental illness, but this book is so much more than that. I wish everyone would read it.

Having trouble settling today, so I‘m going to try this middle grade and see if it does the job. I hate being restless, because that‘s when I want to Read All The Books or Knit All The Things.

Also, this has a beautiful cover.

Fig and her father are on their own. After having to take care of her eccentric musician father during his "episodes," Fig dives into the world of Van Gogh to try to connect with her father and see the world the way he does. With beautiful writing and an insanely gorgeous cover, this novel approaches difficult subjects such as mental illness is a tactful, age appropriate way and provides much needed LGBTQ representation in middle grade fiction

This is the most gorgeous cover I‘ve ever seen, and I cannot wait for a finished copy in May.
Hurricane Season is a heartwarming MG coming-of-age story. Fig is a sixth grader who just wants everything to be normal, but her dad is bipolar, and after an incident at school, Child Protective Services is involved. She thinks if she understands art better—her dad was a famous musician before she was born—she‘ll be able to fix him & save her family.👇🏼
