The Dark Game | Jonathan Janz
Ten writers are selected for a writing retreat with the most celebrated author in the world, the legendary Roderick Wells. Mehso-so

A YA non-fiction about spies. Told how some of the original spy networks were set up in the American Revolution through the modern day computer and electronic surveillance. Early chapters were much more fun when it involved us versus them, but it was not as fun as when our people were spying on ourselves. Liked the chapter that gave us some of the women who worked as spies also and the people who worked as code breakers.

10 writers are invited to a mysterious writer's retreat. I thought it was interesting that Will is working on a book titled The Siren and the Specter. This is also the name of a book published by Janz a year before this one. The 10 writers all have a terrible secret, they all must confront their past. This is a thriller with a touch of horror and a supernatural element. The plot moved quickly and I wanted to learn what would happen next. 4 stars

Week one of #BFC is done! It was rough going due to family events and unplanned dinners out. But! I did hit my daily exercise goal for most of the days. I ate at least 2 meals a day and drastically cut down on unhealthy snacking. I finished 2 books and started the tagged book. Even though I didn‘t meet my goals everyday I was more active and more conscious of making healthy choices, so I‘m fairly happy with that. Cont. below 👇🏻#Fitwizards

RainyDayReading Ending this week strong with homemade tofu and broccoli stir fry, a book sale and an evening walk. Onto week two and to hopefully better stats. @Clwojick @wanderinglynn 5y

Glad to say my first Janz was not a disappointment. Between the fucked up characters and the Hunger Games-esque writing retreat, this will keep any horror fan entertained. #horror

Reading like a horror story about writers, for writers, The Dark Game is about 10 authors invited to a retreat by the most famous author in the world, only to discover there‘s evil in the mansion where they‘re staying, and they‘ve unwittingly had a hand in making it more powerful.
