David‘s story was very inspiring to me. Definitely there is no excuse to achieve anything if you have the will and get out of your control zone.

Another vacation book finish. I liked this one. It told the story of the author and how he grew up and overcame many obstacles. He went on to crazy physical feats and ultramarathons! He is an intense and seemingly genuine person. I‘m not sure how the mind over matter tough it out mantra translates to my life but I did find it encouraging.
Amazing man and triumphs!
One of my husband‘s jiu-jitsu friends lent us this book. Goggins has an extraordinary story. He scaled and conquered every wall that was put in front of him by others, by hate, by life, by his own body. He pushed himself further than he should‘ve been able to go, and still kept going. The Buddha once said, who is your enemy? Mind is your enemy. Goggins says this too. You can do anything if you set your mind to it.
One of the most inspirational books I‘ve ever read. This is a true self help book.
If you‘re looking for motivation or inspiration, this is definitely the book for you. I enjoyed learning about David‘s childhood, adolescence, and adult life, which paved the way for what was to come. His ability to connect his pain and suffering to concepts that would allow him to overcome his struggles and do the unthinkable is exemplary. If you‘re looking to make a comeback, this book will hell you achieve just that.
I really enjoyed this book, as it can act as another motivator in my life. The book is about “David Goggins” who was brought up by a unloving father and was put through the paces already at a young age. David became over weight and depressed and was lost at life. He began working on his mental and physical health and became an extremely popular figure. He went through navy seal training, military training and airforce training.
This has been a really rough year for me, and it didn‘t really come as a surprise when I went to the doctor yesterday and found out my breathing trouble was caused by covid. I‘m actually sort of surprised it took this long to get it because I get sick very easily. In any case, my bed rest yesterday allowed me to completely finish this book and it was exactly what I needed to read and take to heart.
What an amazing read. David captures the underdog reaching for the top narrative perfectly. So many lows and then the highs come flooding in. I found myself literally rooting for him in this memoir. An inspiring and invigorating read.
“You are in danger of living a life so comfortable and soft, that you will die without ever realizing your true potential“.
If you're going to read a self-help type book, I'd make it this one. Brutally honest, non-coddling, and spot on. One of the few times I'd suggest getting the audio book over the hard copy. The narrator reads a few passages, and then Goggins and he have min-podcast-like conversations in which they share a lot more than what's covered in the book.
“This is the story of a hero. The hero is you.”
Mixed feelings. There are times it's a book where I think it's amazing and loved the personal Revelations that I got from it but there are times when the book is not interesting. The actual voice of the main character is too irritating as they swear a lot so be prepared
Interesting. I never knew this.
I can't put into words how inspiring the life story of David Goggins is, so I'll borrow the words of his fellow retired Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, who said of Goggins, "There's no way to stop something or someone that doesn't understand the concept of being beat."
When you open up a book and this is on the Dedication page...
Once again, reading at the laundromat! Almost finished with this incredible story. Also incredible is how I‘m still awake after getting off work at 4am and have to be at the next job at 10!!!! Yikes! I hope everyone else has a great day!
I wish this was more Autobiography and less self help. Interesting biography of a man who had a rough childhood, who grew up to be the only man to complete Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force Tactical Air Controller Training. The Motivational Self-Help aspect eventually devolves into “I, I, Me, Me, aren‘t I wonderful, and if you‘d do like I do, you‘d be wonderful, too.” Like most motivational books do. Which May be true, but it gets repetitive.
