The Legend of Skeleton Man
The Legend of Skeleton Man: Skeleton Man and The Return of Skeleton Man | Joseph Bruchac
3 posts | 3 read | 3 to read
This spine-tingling middle grade collection brings together Skeleton Man and The Return of Skeleton Mantwo modern classics that will chill you to the bone. R.L. Stine, bestselling author of the Goosebumps series, raved: This book gave me nightmares! Mollys father grew up on the Mohawk Reserve of Akwesasne, where he learned the best scary stories. One of her favorites was the legend of Skeleton Man, a gruesome tale about a man with a deadly, insatiable hunger. But ever since her parents mysteriously vanished, those spooky tales have started to feel all too real. And things go from bad to worse for Molly when a stranger shows up one day and claims to be her great-uncle. A ghostly thin man shes never seen before. A man who reminds her an awful lot of the Skeleton Man. But he couldnt possibly be the same person from her fathers tale . . . could he? Its up to Molly to uncover the truth about this fearsome figure and rescue her parents before its too late. This 2-in-1 collection is perfect for fans of R.L. Stine, Ellen Ohs Spirit Hunters series, Holly Blacks Doll Bones, and any young reader who loves a good thrill.

I wouldn't have made it through this as a middle schooler because I did not do well with scary stories! I enjoyed this story & thought it was sufficiently unsettling to thrill middle schoolers. I liked the representation of Native American culture and legends throughout, and enjoyed the inclusion of Latinx and Hispanic traditions and legends in the second book (except when Dia de los Muertos was described as Mexico's Halloween). #ScaryStory

Mehso-so

There are 2 stories in this book and book one was amazing, the fear that was created was so unsettling and I feared for Molly every second the story went on.

Book 2 was a let down, it got really info dumpy and took forever for skeleton man to actually come back and when he finally did it was very short lived.
