I enjoyed this odd novella about a man's childhood and the nature of time.

Celebratory book buying today! I'm very lucky to live in a town with two excellent bookstores.

#dontcryformeargentina, but I must, my library has no César Aira books so I've only read this one. It's like sitting around with a friend who's a really good story teller, no matter how insignificant the actual story, being entertaining as they ramble on. I enjoy this sort of plotless meandering but it's not for everyone.

Honestly, I picked this book because of the cover (which made for a great pic if I do say so myself). It reads more like a memoir than a novella. It was interesting to read about Cesar Aira‘s childhood. I was able to pull some good quotes and resonated with some of the aspects of his upbringing.

Originally written in 2003, this reflective and charming novella is a walk through the memories of a young man, could Aira himself! The love he shared with his father, who gathered linden flowers to make a sleep inducing tea to calm his deformed and deranged mother, daily....
Riveting! Recommended.

Starting this novel by Cesar Aira, the awesome Argentinian author. Any other Aira fans out there? His hearfelt, intelligent and deep novelas are usually around 100 pages and are unforgettable.
