Working on my fourth episode in my podcast‘s series on House of Leaves. Now we enter the Five and a Half Minute Hallway with the explorers, and we are instructed by the Editor to pause and read Johnny‘s mother‘s letters from the asylum. This is the full collection, with 11 extra letters added by the asylum‘s Information Specialist. Mommy is needy. Mommy loves only Johnny. #podcast
pickDecided to give this a go since I couldn't get through House of Leaves my first attempt to read it. I enjoyed it, and while it definitely reads a little like an appendix of the larger works it's taken from, it is an interesting snippet of story of itself, and gets me interested in attempting the main work again.
I have not yet had the capacity or focus to read all of House of Leaves. I was really excited to find this collection/excerpt of letters from House of Leaves, giving me the opportunity to ease my way into the greater novel. This collection is full of all the emotions and has completely captivated me! Would definitely recommend. But keep in mind, it's not a novella or short story, it's a collection of letters.
Trying to decipher the code of a crazy (?) woman makes you look a bit crazy yourself. If my boyfriend finds these notes, without context he'll definitely think I've gone mad.

House of Leaves is possibly my favorite book and receiving this as a gift from my mother made everything seem a bit better. I've read most of it already and it's very...frantic? A lot of words can describe this book but the point is I LOVE IT â¨â¨â¨â¨
