This just wasn't for me. The epic scope of the book is ambitious and the author has clearly done an impressive amount of research, but I found it difficult to follow and some of the writing was icky to be honest.

Crazy busy day. Finally having a late lunch. Fast food was a necessity. Lettuce wrapped teen burger and a diet root beer. And a little time to read. Ahhh....
Nice to hit #Poland in my trip. I remember enjoying James A Michener‘s Poland Saga, cleverly titled Poland, and the tagged book.

I‘ve read a lot of books about Jewish survival during WWII and this one doesn‘t come close to most of those. There was something lacking in this story. So much of what the characters did felt forced and overly heroic. There were moments that the author forced humor that just didn‘t fit. The tied in a neat bow ending bothered me as well. I‘m glad I didn‘t pay for this one.

Good novel about the horrors and some of the heroes of the second world war. Nothing made it particularly stand out - but if you like reading about this subject/era then you'll like this.
Think I'm probably done with WW2 books for a while though - seem to have done so many recently time to take a break.
Todays train reading to London 😀 I don't look nearly this glamorous!
Attending seminar on behalf on my PVC , his PA has automatically booked me first class, yay for cooked breakfast!!
This was good. I listened on audible. It was long, covering many years, relationships and events in WW2. I loved Rita's character. Also loved the accents!
Finished The Girl from Krakow. Posting full-length review to blog soon.

Meh. This book really failed at creating a connection with me. Despite the setting, lots of drama and several love stories I never cared about any of the characters. It wasn't boring, just... Too cold? Too weird. Too implausible. I never even believed the mother truly cared for her son...
