Finally got around to watching this movie & while it's good, it's good in it's own right, separate from the book. The book had me so emotionally invested & I'm not as invested in the story being told in the movie as I was when I read. & I'm surprised at how well Whoopi Goldberg fits into the role of Celie but it works 🤷‍♀️ #thebookisbetter

So this one caught me by surprise to be honest. I thought I had it alllll figured out but then WHAM plot twist lol. It was a good read & underneath it all looks at the problems women face when it comes to speaking up. Also, I started using Bookly and I love this infographic after I finished reading. It's like a little badge of success 😁

I was really disappointed in this one. 80%... literally 80% of the book is back story leading up to the moment that Katherine turns on her husband and kills him. 80%! And then the book ends at 95% to include an excerpt of his next book. Dis-a-ppoint-ed. I found out more info on Katherine Knight by reading wikipedia 🤦‍♀️

I'm late to the Library Thing game, but I'm very much over Goodreads. I wanted something less social media more book organization. So here I am on Library Thing updating and adding books and tagging and basically nerding out 🤷‍♀️

rretzler I love LibraryThing. I‘ve been a member for about 8 years now and it has so many more advantages than GR. The only thing I like about GR is that is is easier to pick the actual book edition that you are reading and I like the annual summary. Other than that LT is the way to go. You should check out the 75 Books Challenge Group. Very nice group of people and you don‘t actually have to read 75 books! 5y
cj82487 @rretzler yea I'm finding it a lot more pleasing to the eye. I like that I can look at my library and see all the book covers and that if I add details like where I got the book it can track it in my stats. Goodreads just can't do that kind of stuff. I just wish the app was better but both LT and GR need better apps 🤷‍♀️ 5y

cjk I ❤️ this movie! I listened to Julie and Julia and I‘m making my way through My Life in France. P.s. I hear Meryl Streep‘s voice in my head when I‘m reading 😂 5y
cj82487 @cjk I loved it too! Meryl was so dramatic but I ate it up this morning watching it. I think I'm going to download the ebook tonight bc it was just such a treat to watch 5y

Oh the ending 😭😭 There was a lot I really loved about this but I really enjoyed how it wasnt so much a happy ending but an ending about living and moving forward. Ugh the tears tho! Very glad I picked this as my #BOTM and I should've read it a long time ago.

Haven't been reading a whole bunch this summer... bc you know... it's summer... but I'm hoping to finish this up soon. I'm really enjoying the concept and how the story goes from Sabrina's life to the dinner and back. If I had more time to sit and read, I probably wouldve flipped through this a lot faster than I have bc it is interesting.

Ok, so I picked it back up & it's getting better. I think it was just a little slower starting off than I was ready for & that put me off a bit. It's picking up & the web is being woven strand by strand. Hanna is by far one of the creepiest characters I've read in a while.

Finished this one last night and was a little surprised by the ending. I love this take on the beloved Sherlock Holmes novels. I love Mary and this was the first audio book I listened to from start to finish in quite some time. The narrator really brings the story to life. Started the next Mary Russell novel last night before bed.

Trying to figure out my next read. Of course, I'm tackling THE TWO TOWERS, but I like to read 2 or 3 books of different types at a time to give me some variety. My last NetGalley was a flop, & BABY TEETH is next on my list. I just can't decide between starting another NetGalley or starting THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW, a BOTM gem. #decisions

Lovesbooks87 They both were good. Baby Teeth was really creepy, still thinking about that little girl! 6y
cj82487 @Lovesbooks87 I've read mixed reviews on it which makes me hesitate. I would hate to have another NetGalley be a DNF 6y
Lovesbooks87 @cj82487 Yea, I can see were it could have mixed reviews and how it isn't a book that everyone would want to read. 6y

I usually try to give a book a chance, but this one became annoying. It was beyond repetitive. Every page mentioned how powerful Galbraith is, how manipulative, how strong, how controlling, how powerful, etc. Every page other than the 1 chapter so far that he wasnt in. I just dont think I can read another page without rolling my eyes.

This is me lately. I still havent finished Fellowship of the Ring & then I started a new book but am only about 5% into it. My audio book has been getting more action, but I have to rewind a lot when I start listening again bc I keep forgetting where I left off. I'm in a slump & it sucks but I think it's bc my house has been battling strep which means at the end of the night, 1 pg & I'm out for the count.

I thought I would have finished this by now, but I guess because it is my second time reading it, I have ended up putting it down for a few days without reading. I also left it in my husband's truck for a few days, so I only had my kindle & Libby audiobooks for a bit there. The story is still interesting, I still get lost in it, but it feels slower 2nd time around.

I really enjoyed this take on Lizzie Borden. I loved how poetic the writing was at times, the onomatopoeia, the subtle imagery & peak into a character's inner turmoil. I think it captured the tumultuous relationships behind the Borden doors & it felt real

I've always had trouble listening to books but lately haven't had a lot of time to sit down & read. I downloaded the audio version of this to listen to at night in bed or while doing dishes & I think bc I am also reading in between those times, the story is sticking better. I hope to get better at listening to books this year... 1 book at a time

Scurvygirl I have a hard time with audiobooks. But I‘m having a hard time with reading right now, so I‘m taking the plunge with some older books that I put aside while I knit and drive and work. I‘m a visual and hands on person. 6y
cj82487 @Scurvygirl same here. I started with books I knew the story too already like Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre and now I'm trying to dive into unread books. This one I go back & forth from reading to listening & i think that's helping bc i would rather listen to a book in the car than the same songs on the radio lol 6y

Perhaps the best quote in the book. For me this speaks volumes. There's more to this quote than Tolkien's story. #bookquote

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I read it in huge chunks at a time. It almost felt like a memoir at times. I loved the attention to jazz and the writers and artists the Fitzgerald's crossed paths with. Definitely glad I picked this lovely up from the library.
