This started as really captivating. Though it kind of tapered off towards the end. It is still leaving me curious as to what happens next.

This is a reread for me because I wanted to finish the series. It's been too long ago and I couldn't remember enough. My actual rating is 3.5. Nothing super interesting but the story kept my attention. Though I have always thought about what would happen in an emergency if you're locked in a store like that. I like Dean and Astrid so far.

Day 5: I‘m definitely into dystopian books and this one fit the bill.
1. The entire Monument 14 series! UGHHH 😤 The characters all did such STUPID things, and honestly nothing made a whole lot of sense. The books were infuriating 👎🏻
2. Usually eat at home, but I definitely enjoying buying too (Panera!!!)
3. Hmm I‘ve had PLENTY of embarrassing moments, but I remember in 7th grade I reached the top step to the 2nd floor and tripped and FELL in front of so many people 🤦🏻♀️
4. Fall scents!
5. Blue Disasters 👌🏻
#BOOKMAIL!
Yaaaay! Thank you so much for the books, @callielafleur 🖤
And also some amazing bookmarks I got from @That-Bookish-Hiker!💕
10/10. Liked the feel of the story, all I have to say is the story is so good that I‘m in a book coma and kinda sad because I was left on a cliff hanger with the start of the next book :(.
This whole series was really good!

I was surprised at the awful reviews for this book! Granted, I read this in high school, but I do recall liking it. I enjoyed the whole series, in fact. It actually gets better as it goes on.

I struggled with today's #norain prompt so I'm reaching with this one but here it goes:
After a freak storm, a bus load of kids takes refuge in a local mall only to discover that a chemical spill is affecting the population in strange ways. With no adults around, the children must manage to survive in an increasingly hostile environment.

14 kids taking shelter in a superstore after disaster strikes. Sounds interesting right? I thought the same but it fell short.
The story is told in Dean's POV who is an easy character to forget after you've finished the book, that's how unimpressive he was. The only character I liked was a little boy named Max because he told funny stories that weren't funny but mostly tragic because he was so young.
Another book that just wasn't for me.
⭐️⭐️
I don't know what irks me more in this book:
-the over-sexualization and slut shaming of a 13 yr old girl
-or making the only adult Latino character a sexual predator.
-OR the fact the other Latino character is 7 yr old boy who is described as a "cubby and jolly looking".
On this gorgeous Tuesday, I am stating this one off the TBR stack... A YA post apocalyptic page turner....yes please!
All three of these books are great! Dystopian story of survival. Interesting to see how the characters are physically effected by the tragedy that occurs. I met this author at a book fest, she is hilarious, despite the fact that these books tackle some very dark themes!
