Promise of a Pencil: How an Ordinary Person Can Create Extraordinary Change (Bound for Schools and Librarie) | Adam Braun
9 posts | 8 read | 1 reading | 3 to read
The riveting "New York Times" bestseller about a young man who built more than 200 schools around the world--and the steps anyone can take to lead a successful and significant life. Adam Braun began working summers at hedge funds when he was just sixteen years old, sprinting down the path to a successful Wall Street career. But while traveling he met a young boy begging on the streets of India, who after being asked what he wanted most in the world, simply answered, "A pencil." This small request led to a staggering series of events that took Braun backpacking through dozens of countries before eventually leaving a prestigious job to found Pencils of Promise, the organization he started with just $25 that has since built more than 200 schools around the world. "The Promise of a Pencil" chronicles Braun's journey to find his calling, as each chapter explains one clear step that every person can take to turn their biggest ambitions into reality. If you feel restless and ready for transition, if you are seeking direction and purpose, this critically acclaimed bestseller is for you. Driven by inspiring stories and shareable insights, this is the book that will give you the tools to make your own life a story worth telling. "*All proceeds from this book will support Pencils of Promise."

Bailedbailed

I really wanted to like this book and found the first few chapters really interesting, but I just could not connect with this author at all. Don‘t get me wrong, the organization is incredible I just couldn‘t read anymore and bailed on it halfway in.

One of the very few non fiction book I actually finished. Love the way the book was written, like story telling. It was almost as if I wasn‘t reading a non fiction and maybe that‘s why I finished it.

BookishMe Received the package! Journals are visually Amazing... @GatheringBooks LOVE LOVE your printouts!! Joy of BookMail has just multiplied manifold 💗💗 7y

Trashcanman I'm left handed, how are they different from regular ones? I'm interested. 7y
Crazeedi Well , they dont leave Mark's on the side of my hand when writing. Also the sharpener is lefty, the one pencils writing on it you can read when holding in left hand. They have different hardness of leads. I haven't used them all yet, so I can update you more as I use 7y
Crazeedi The site is cwpencils.com of you love pencils you will like. 7y
Crazeedi @Trashcanman they're just cool 7y
Trashcanman They seem cool, my niece told me there's a left handed only store in San Francisco. They actually ask you to write on paper to prove your left handed before you enter. Lefties only, that's about the weirdest segregation I've heard of in my life. Lol. 7y
Crazeedi O my, that's pretty crazy!!! 7y
