Ordinary Girls | Blair Thornburgh
Perfect for fans of Sarah Mlynowski and Jenny Han, this heartfelt and humorous contemporary take on Sense and Sensibility follows two sisterscomplete oppositeswho discover the secrets theyve been keeping make them more alike than theyd realized. For siblings as different as Plum and Ginny, getting on each others nerves is par for the course. But when the familys finances hit a snag, sending chaos through the house in a way only characters from a Jane Austen novel could understand, a distance grows between them like never before. Plum, a self-described social outcast, finally has something in her life that doesnt revolve around her dramatic older sister. But what if coming into her own means Plum isnt there for Ginny when she, struggling with a hard secret of her own, needs her most?

Mehso-so

A contemporary and loose YA of Sense and Sensibility, two vastly different sisters are trying to find their places in the world, separate from the expectations of their parents and each other.

This was a sweet story, but it fell a bit flat to me. Characters didn‘t have a lot of depth, and I wanted more after the ending, more of the sisters understanding each other better. I liked how the romance didn‘t overwhelm the rest of the story. 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑

#PemberLittens Finally finished this one last night-now I can turn my Kindle off airplane mode again & not lose it back to the library!😉YA Sense and Sensibility modernization & a bit of a slow start for me but I came to really enjoy it & especially loved Plum, the younger sister but the Elinor in this book—putting up with the histrionics of her older sister Ginny & the downturn in family finances. Smart, witty & very book & literature leaning.💙

sprainedbrain Ha! I currently have my kindle on airplane mode with 3 books that the library wants to suck off of there. 🤣 4y
Revenge4bess Hey #pemberlittens, is anyone interested in doing a buddy read with me? I‘m interested in reading Eligible. 4y

My finished soup: Creamy Coconut Milk Curry Vegetable Stew. Vegan, satisfying with the chickpeas & potatoes & the lime & coconut milk make it not too heavy for the warmer weather. Link to my recipe is👇🏻

I am liking this YA Sense and Sensibility modernization but I am having trouble squeezing in time to read & to read it among other books. Still I‘m about halfway through it so hopefully I‘ll finish this week.

Karisa Mmmm... Looks delicious! I love soup. 🍵 4y

The finished Black Bean Soup from the cookbook tagged in the comments. Simple & good. I‘m going to make a couple more recipes before I review the book but a link to my blog post & the recipe is below.

The book is one of my current reads for #PemberLittens —it‘s a YA modernization of Sense and Sensibility. A bit slow to start but I am hopeful it will pick up as it got good reviews.

sprainedbrain That soup looks delicious! 4y

Love love love 💕 it had a splash of Jane Austen and a healthy heaping of Gilmore Girls-esque humor! It was inviting, warm, and made me want to live in their lives for a while longer. Definitely recommend!

I have never been good at beginnings, which is one of my many shortcomings.

What a nice surprise this book was. This book goes much deeper than a typical YA novel, IMO. Plum is a sophomore in a private school, is not that popular, but dealing with an over-achieving sister and a mother who has some of her own issues and a boy that maybe she has feelings for. I felt like I was in the mind of a teenage girl and the own voices really helped.
