Pickpick

Bradbury used the Whitman poem to entitle this story collection! Body electric refers to a machine that, to a widower and his three young children, becomes their grandmother figure after the wife/mother dies. Intriguing!

When you open up your Kindle to see this but forgot you decided to read a short story before bed and was actually reading a book about The Sun Down Motel...

Wow, that got weird for a minute... 😂

A bit hit and miss for me. Bradbury is such a master that I put the ones I didn't get on with down to my own failings rather than his.

A friend and I were discussing movies we grew up with that a colleague‘s son might like and I remembered there was a TV movie based on what of the stories from this book. I‘d forgotten! I only vaguely remember the movie but it was a nice little nostalgic moment. #sing (from the title) #Quotsy #QuotsyDec17 #LitsyQuoteChallenge

Day 9 #AprilBookShowers #artificialintelligence My mind immediately ran to the titular story in this book where a family grieving the mother gets an electric grandmother to care for them. My 5th grade teacher was a science fiction buff & had us reading lots of Bradbury & I think this was my first A.I. There was also a Twilight Zone episode from it & an 80s television movie, The Electric Grandmother. Bought the e-book a while back for a reread.🤖

Cinfhen Deb you know what popped into my mind....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tG-wl2qqD7Y&sns=em

DebinHawaii @Cinfhen Hah! I forgot all about the song in the Fame movie--another 80s great. 😆👍 I probably could have mentioned the Whitman poem too. 😀 7y

It's one of those days when everything looks good to me. I just picked up this Bradbury for $1.99, Robert Campbell's The Junkyard Dog, and Defragmenting Daniel by Werebeloff for free. Also requested three Vine books, An Almond for a Parrot (Delaney), Stockholm Delete (Lapidus), and Mad Country (Upadhyay) a sure sign that I'm feeling more like my old self.

Started writing my next short story tonight, then slowly realized it was a sort of love letter to Ray Bradbury. So I dug out some relevant volumes to revel for a bit

BekahB Nice! Bradbury is one of those authors who makes me want to write. 🙂 8y

I tagged Bradbury because I would certainly recommend it to his fans and this title isn't registered yet. Outlook Springs is a literary magazine "from the interdimensional press of Langston Brumbletooth", full of beautiful, slightly wonky poetry and prose. I'm more blown away with every piece!
