1. The Hatchling- I felt things crawling on me for days after reading this one. So creepy!
2. Devolution- who doesn't enjoy a good Sasquatch book.
3. Infested- this novella will make you never want to leave your house for fear of being bitten by insects.
4. Stinger- great critter tale about a being from another planet causing trouble in a small Texas town.

Loved this one! ? It has that old school horror feel to the writing but McCammon also gives us some sci-fi here as well with the "creature" being an alien who has come to Earth to capture another alien. Set this all in Inferno, a small Texas town full of interesting characters, and you have an action packed propulsive story full of gore and jump scares.

Reggie I freakin love this book. And this is totally 80‘s horror vibes. Have you read Under the Dome by Stephen King? Because Stinger wore it best. 3y

I am loving this book. Robert McCammon has become one of my favorite horror writers. I bought this first book club edition off of eBay. It gives me that cozy feel of reading library books in the 80s. ❤️ The story is not what I expected and I LOVE it!

JusttoReview Night Boat, Mine & Boy‘s Life are also really great! 3y

Excellent sci-fi horror mashup set in a dying Texas town riven by gang violence and economic decline which becomes the backdrop to a titanic struggle between two alien civilisations. Beyond the mayhem is a moving tale of personal redemption and reconciliation. Great stuff.

TheBookAddict @KennethTolesJr this sounds a bit up your alley. 5y
KennethTolesJr @TheBookAddict It does. Think it's on one of my TBRs also. 5y

Audiobook review. I‘m looking for a scary book. This one was interesting alien monsters with a bit of The Thing, Bladerunner and West Side Story? Not bad but not horribly scary either. Good narration. ⭐️⭐️⭐️3/4

In the remote Texas town of Inferno, a creature of evil beyond anything the world has ever encountered descends. He traps the town and ravages the land with grisly executions and horrible mutations . . . until the people rise up in a final, desperate battle.

Mccammon is one of my favourite authors, it's like he writes books JUST for me! 😃💯

I'm not done yet, only half way thru it but I can seem to care about this characters other than the alien lol the story is not that gripping. But I'm not quitting yet!

You don't see lots of McCammon stuff out in the wild while thrift storing, so finding five at the same one is quite a treat.

bitterbear I want to read night boat bad... 7y

#AmIWrong in thinking these are the same book. Both take place in smalltown U.S.A. Both have invisible forcefields that allow nothing in or out. Both are there by extraterrestrial influence. Both show the horrible side of humanity in pressure cooker situations. 🤔 Robert did it better, though I enjoyed both. I can't help but think that they both watched the Twilight Zone episode The Monsters are Due on Maple Street when they were kids.

OhNoMersault Aren't The Stand and Swan Song essentially the same book too? Wonder if it's homage or ripoffery. 8y
Reggie I still freak out a little in Swan Song when the devil guy is watching Faces of Death in the theatre, his face changing as he recognizes himself in each scene. @OhNoMersault lol I still pick Roberts version of the apocalypse. But yeah, they're pretty similar. 8y
minkyb Justing thinking about the twilight zone freaks me out. Outer Limits too! 8y

Cinfhen I agree with @OhNoMersault "homage or ripoffery" ?!? Does that bother you as a reader?!? 8y
Reggie @cinfhen @OhNoMersault Not really, because sometimes you cant keep a good idea down. How many books have been loosely based on a Shakespeare play or an Austen Novel. Sometimes its nice to see them dressed up differently. 8y
Cinfhen I like that answer @Reggie so true! 8y
