Watch Me | Anjelica Huston
5 posts | 4 read | 5 to read
Picking up where A Story Lately Toldleaves off, when Anjelica Huston is 22 years old, WatchMe chronicles her glamorous and eventful Hollywood years. She tells the story of falling in love with Jack Nicholson and her adventurous, turbulent, high-profile, spirited 17-year relationship with him and his intoxicating circle of friends. She writes about learning the art and craft of acting, about her Academy Award-winning portrayal of Maerose Prizzi in Prizzi's Honour, about her collaborations with many of the greatest directors in Hollywood, including Woody Allen, Wes Anderson, Richard Condon, Bob Rafelson, Francis Ford Coppola and Stephen Frears. She writes movingly and beautifully about the death of her father, the legendary director John Huston and her marriage to sculptor Robert Graham.

9-22-22: My 93rd finished book of 2022! While Anjelica Huston has never been my favorite actress, I‘ve always found her interesting especially since her father was the famous director, John Huston. This memoir was the second of two she has written. It covers her rise in the entertainment industry and her relationships during that time. It felt a bit disjointed to me. I was hoping for more behind the scenes stories from her array of projects.

Oh, I so love Anjelica Huston, but this memoir is not her best. It's more a memoir about Jack Nicholson, & how she was so deeply in love with a man who didn't seem to want her as much as she wanted him. Which is heartbreaking. This book doesn't get to the heart of any matter or discuss her feelings too deeply, it is all very top-layer and not too revealing. I needed to know more though in order to be sold this story, so to me it was lacking.
