Sammy's Hill
Sammy's Hill | Kristin Gore
Meet Samantha Joyce. Bright, articulate and hard-working, Sammy is a political aide to die for. Seventy-hour working weeks? No problem. Conniving hacks? Handled. The very model of efficiency, Sammy takes the cut-throat world of Washington in her stride. But lurking beneath this highly-professional veneer is another Sammy. A caffeine and cosmopolitan fuelled Sammy who's prone to flights of highly-imaginative fancy. A Sammy who's not above begging her Japanese Fighting Fish not to commit hara kiri. A Sammy who's just met Aaron Driver, a speechwriter who has one significant flaw: he works for her boss's biggest rival. None of this is anything to worry about. Ordinarily. But when you're trying to run a national political campaign whilst being beleaguered by scheming journos and treacherous colleagues, and starting what seems to be a very exciting relationship, surely something's got to give?

Panpan

I personally could not relate at all to the protagonist. Although her nearly unrealistic clumsiness is amusing at some points, her neuroticism draws the line for me. I just cannot relate with someone who hates themselves so much they have to pick apart a 2-lined text/email from their boyfriend and systematically listing the assumed pros and cons of said message. Not everything said needs to be put under a microscope and analyzed. Geez.

🙈📚📚📚📚....😟😕😔 #Unhaul #BookwormProblems #BookStacks

I plan to move in with my boyfriend in a few months & there's just no way I can take all my books - many which I've either already read, some duplicates, & others that I've had for years & don't think I'll read anytime soon.

But man, it's hard!!
This is my initial unhaul which I I'll be placing on the giveaway shelf in the my building's lobby for someone else to enjoy & treasure.

LauraBeth That is so hard! I've had to do this! 7y
elkeOriginal Girl, are you a Freemason? Whichever neighbor picks that one up will soon be! 😹😹 7y
Nat_Reads Such lovely choices! It will be a gift to someone! Congrats on the move-in! 7y

Jbakesmcgee3 Whenever I have to get rid of books I try to give them to friends because then it seems a little bit easier to part with them knowing that they're going to a good home. Sometimes I also put them in a little free library. 7y
MarticaMustRead Buahaha!!!? @elkeo - that book was actually donated to me because of my love of the movie "National Treasure" hehe.... yet I don't think I opened it more than 3 times!? 7y

I'm a few pages into Sammy's Hill and I'm already so happy there is a second book. Kristin's written for Futurama and SNL and is working on a ScarJo-starring film adaptation of Jon Ronson's The Psychopath Test (one of my favorite books) and, based on what I've read so far, it's in very good hands.
