What Did You Eat Yesterday?, Volume 6
What Did You Eat Yesterday?, Volume 6 | Fumi Fumi Yoshinaga
3 posts | 2 read
In this volume of discovery and acceptance, we learn that happiness depends on small constant pleasures (meals first and foremost)--and that the reason Kenji fell for Shiro has to do with an '80s manga. As the couple's relationship deepens, author Yoshinaga takes the slice-of-life genre to unique heights.

Pickpick

This #manga series continues with its slice-of-life gentle humour. Shiro gets a little more comfortable with being seen with his boyfriend Kenji & they meet up with #gay friends. It‘s the cooking, however, that really draws me in. I don‘t mind about the weird #translations (ie “pepper balls” for peppercorns). In fact, it can add puzzlement or an inadvertent giggle. In the next issue, Shiro will make black tea ice cream. Bring it on! #LGBT #comics

Today I have learned from comics how to cook taro roots: peel, boil, drain “to get rid of the slime,” wash the pot, boil them again in just enough water to cover, then stew with white dashi and mirin for flavour. Any of you Littens want to comment on this recipe? (The slime part has frightened me.)

Fridameetslucy I don‘t know if it‘s true but you‘ve made it memorable for me ! 5y
Lindy @Fridameetslucy Ha! Slime came up in another recipe in this book. Instructions for mixing dumpling filling “until slimy.” There are some strange translations in this book. 5y
