I expected a psychological thriller, which this was - but with the emphasis on "psychological" and not so much "thriller." It was a suspense book full of sordid, horrifying events, but written in a quiet, gentle, philosophical tone. If that sounds like an odd reading experience, believe me, it was.

I started Our Musseque, by Angolan Author José Luandino Vieira. It's not grabbing me so far, but I haven't given up.

The realism & character development in this series keeps me coming back. There are sometimes inadvertently funny #translations, as in the case where Shiro finally buys baking powder (he has used pancake mix in past issues as a workaround, ie in making brownies). This time, Kenji convinces him to make pancakes from scratch. Even though Shiro gives in, he doesn‘t understand the love of “powder-based stuff” (ie baking powder based). #LGBT #comics

This #manga series continues with its slice-of-life gentle humour. Shiro gets a little more comfortable with being seen with his boyfriend Kenji & they meet up with #gay friends. It‘s the cooking, however, that really draws me in. I don‘t mind about the weird #translations (ie “pepper balls” for peppercorns). In fact, it can add puzzlement or an inadvertent giggle. In the next issue, Shiro will make black tea ice cream. Bring it on! #LGBT #comics

New addition to the Harry Potter shelf! My best friend brought back a Korean edition of book three (my favorite). Cool fact, in South Korea the Harry Potter books are not published in single volumes. This is only part one of book three and there are two more!?! Book six in paperback takes SIX volumes 😲! #harrypotter #koreanedition #surprises #translations
