I finally remembered the show episode based on this book. It‘s one of my least favorites. I don‘t love the book either, but it‘s a decent listen. Barnaby is good, as always. Troy has only one redeeming quality, as far as I can tell — he likes dogs. #audiowalk

I really don‘t remember this book as an episode of Midsomer Murders. I‘d remembered all the previous ones. My knees are beginning to hurt regularly, so I had to make a doctor‘s appointment to see about them. I probably have arthritis, but I can‘t have that interfering with my #audiowalk!

@Librarybelle posted about this book, and I needed a new #audiowalk book, so this is it. The sky was just gorgeous this evening. I walked in the center of my former campus instead of around the edges. The Christmas decorations are still up.

Librarybelle Lovely walk! 12mo
KathyWheeler @Librarybelle I really enjoyed it. The sky was just amazing. 12mo

I did not read much in #March , but it was all good reading!

However, I have to highlight this book 5 of the Barnaby series. I love Midsomer Murders, and when I found the series on Audible, I had to dig in!

The characters are more crass, crude, and in some ways completely different than the TV show (I‘m looking at you Troy!). The books, like this one, are very methodical. Barnaby is cunning. And, so much character development! #12BooksOf2023

Librarybelle Incidentally, this is an old audio photo…I listened to the updated version by Bolinda audio. It was spectacular! 12mo
Andrew65 Never read any of these, definitely need to try them by the sound of it. 12mo
KathyWheeler The show made a smart decision changing up Troy. I struggle to put aside my vision of him when I read the books though. 12mo
Librarybelle @Andrew65 I really enjoyed them! 12mo
Librarybelle @KathyWheeler The show would not be as popular if they kept with the book characterizations. It would have been so dark. I agree - so hard to separate the book Troy from the TV Troy. 12mo

I happily devoured this fifth in the Midsomer Murders series on audio. The character studies in each of these novels is remarkable, and this addition is no exception. Barnaby and Troy come off as cantankerous and crass, respectively, and the mystery and murder are so twisted. Great listen! #192025 #1996 #52BookClub23 #RelatedToTheWordMurder

Bluebird I‘ve been eyeing this series for awhile. I really must get to it soon! 2y

Love the show, Midsomer Murders. The books are also quite good, although Troy is a total jerk In the books; much prefer this character in the tv show.
