I absolutely love this series! You can pick up the first book for free! #eBookDeals #Kindle #KindleDeals
I enjoyed this a lot, despite some clunky writing and odd comma use. The characters bounce off each other in interesting ways, there‘s some good tension, and the mystery unfolds well (if a little obviously). I‘m leaning towards buying the next two so I can see where everyone goes from here.
TW for rape. Cara‘s open about what happened to her when she was 14 and faces social ostracism, yet her rapist goes unpunished by conventional justice.
I‘ve got a reading buddy nestled in beside me! Duffy‘s here for a couple nights, and Casey couldn‘t be happier to have his BFF on hand. Unfortunately, he was so eager to play with Duffy this morning that he came zooming in at 5:30, tail wagging hard. Duffy, being a sensible person, refused to engage.
Sorta-ploughman‘s lunch with my book, which continues to grow on me. I pulled this freebie off La TBR yesterday because the first series omnibus is part of Kobo‘s Labour Day sale and I wanted to see if I should buy it. I‘ll let y‘all know what I decide.
Today was warm enough that I didn‘t need a jacket as long as I was moving, but cold enough I was glad to have a hot Americano.
I read a nice chunk of NEFERTITI‘S HEART while I drank. I found the first chapter horribly clunky, but the book‘s grown on me since then. I‘m pretty sure I‘ll finish it.
Do y‘all ever have that one book that no matter how many times you read it you always come back to read it again?

Oh, how I wish this book had not contained so many graphic sex scenes! I probably would have rated the book higher minus those. I was entertained and intrigued by the plot of Cara trying to deal with her father's estate and the murder mystery as it unfolded. My curiosity kept me reading. I was even ok with the romance story, but I really don't enjoy blow by blow accounts of sexual encounters. I prefer when authors sum those up in a sentence or two
Got this #freebook on #kindle the other day and added the #audiobook through #audible for only $1.99. Started listening on my commute yesterday. I didn't really even pay attention to the genre when I downloaded the book since it was such a steal, but quickly figured out as I was driving that I had unwittingly started my first #steampunk ever! I've been curious about the genre, but have yet to venture down that path. Here I go!
A book by any other name (or in any other language) makes me just as happy, as does colouring in my book lover's colouring book! 😃
Another free ebook gone right! Loved this book! Cara is a strong and resourceful woman who survived and thrived! While enjoying a flirtation with the Villainous Viscount and thumbing her nose at the society that left her to the wolves, she is in pursuit of a monster stalking the eligible young women of the Nobility! This #Steampunk adventure is a definite pick!
The story is fast-paced with a well-constructed plot, leading to an unexpected and satisfying conclusion. The main character, Cara, is developed with sensitivity but also a bit of irreverence. I was reminded very much of the Theodosia series of children‘s books by R.L. LaFevers – Cara could be Theodosia all grown up. #seasonsreadings2016 #steampunk #litsygoespostalOG Full review at https://itsallaboutthebook.org/2013/06/30/nefertitis-heart/
