Mac‘s friend Connor was the last victim of a serial killer who killed four people and then vanished. Now, on the anniversary of his death, Mac makes a discovery that could finally reveal the killer‘s identity. This was a solid YA mystery with some plausible twists. Ryan is a Nova Scotian writer, and this is the second of his books I have read.

Good teen mystery. Mac is trying to figure out the identity of the serial killer who killed one of his friends the previous year. He doesn't believe that it was a drifter like the police claim. I was surprised by the ending!

Listened to the audiobook while finishing this puzzle.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This signed copy has been on my book shelf for a few years and I‘m so happy #doublespin has pushed me to finally get to it. It was a very well written YA mystery with a lot of twisty turnings near the end. I really liked the main character Mac and his growing confidence. I also loved the support of the community that we see more towards the end. I definitely recommend. This was my February #doublespin No. 10 pick.

BookDragonNotWorm Great review! I really liked this one - surprised it doesn't get more press/attention. 3y
mollyrotondo @BookDragonNotWorm I agree! I was surprised to see so little reviews on Litsy. But I really liked it. I‘d like to check out his other books now! 3y

I feel like this book is not for me. I would like to know more about the characters and the person that died. There is very little action. Which is disinterests me. I love action in a book because it draws me in. It is also slow paced so, I have a hard time staying engaged. However, I am not deep in the book so, things could change. I will give it another week.

Cfischbuch I remember it being a bit confusing, as there are a lot of characters to focus on, but you are quite right this is not an action book but more of a who-done-it character mystery. 4y
MrsBabki I will be curious to see if it changes for you or if it is time to bail. Good job! 4y

There was too many people and half were dead so, didn‘t know whether it was like a memory or a different person, it was too confusing to enjoy 😔

Cfischbuch Thanks for your honest review. 5y
MrsBabki I have to agree with Fish! I love when people are honest. There are a few books that have confused me just the same. 5y

This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. When Mac's best friend Connor is killed by a serial killer and the crime is left unsolved. Mac doesn't believe it was a drifter and starts his own investigation. But the more he uncovers the more he thinks he knows who the killer is. But is heright? I was shocked and didn't see who the killer was coming at all. This is my first completed book in the #24b4monday readathon. Bailed on 1st book

This YA mystery is between a so-so and a pick for me. It‘s a little melodramatic and far fetched at times but it‘s also well-paced with an intriguing story and a few red herrings! Full review on my blog now if you fancy reading!

I received this e-arc through Netgalley. My review is my own honest opinion.
