pickLoved this so much and couldn‘t stop reading it or thinking about it afterwards. It‘s not a whodunnit more an exploration of the impact and the thinking from the family when someone commits a terrible crime. Really interesting and well written.
You can‘t make a good person do bad things. You can‘t change who they are fundamentally in the time it takes to eat a sandwich. That‘s science fiction. The only thing that can change who we are is life ⚡️

I really thought I was going to be over the top for this story,but I wasn‘t.I couldn‘t really wrap my head around the different connections to why or if the son assassinated a senator,It was wordy to the point of skimming. I did feel the emotions of the father, and the rollercoaster ride he lived,but all in all it just was ok🤷🏼♀️
Sigh.
My father was a feeling, a sense of security transferred from his body to mine when I put my arms around his neck. The details of his life were irrelevant. He was an extension of my body as I was of his.

pick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This. Book. Wow. Wow wow wow wow wow. This is the story of a father whose oldest son assassinates a presidential candidate and the father‘s quest to find out why. I am always awed by authors who do a ton of research for their books and use it to fill in all the details of their narrative. Hawley does a great job at this. Definitely the best book I have read so far this year and I can see it making my best of list at the end of 2018.
