The Thing on the Doorstep | 
pickI do not like the misogyny in “The Thing on the Doorstep“, but I was happy to learn that Lovecraft abandoned his racist thought when he got older (if the afterword is to be believed). This book includes “The Colour Out of Space“, which is one of the best stories Lovecraft has ever written (imo). It's so tense and frightening. I loved rereading it and it was just as impressive as the first time.

Bookwomble HPL moved to a New York District in his later life, and his exposure to the multicultural inhabitants softened his racist attitudes as he became aware of his prejudices and assumptions, and which he was open about in his correspondence. So, an instructive example of how othering can be overcome by experiencing people as people rather than objects 😊 5mo
