It's been AGES since I was last here!
I haven't had the mental bandwidth recently to read much (partly due to my usual summertime dysphoria) which is frankly a horrifying state of affairs. Let's hope this #libraryhaul comes to the rescue.

CatLass007 @kathedron When I first began having depression when I was around 30, I lost the ability to focus enough to read. It made me even more depressed. I used to read 2-4 books per week. Eventually, I decided to give audiobooks a try. I have been hooked on audiobooks ever since. It‘s definitely better to listen to an audiobook than not to read anything at all. I encourage you to try at least one to see how it might help you focus. 2y

KathyWheeler Audiobooks have helped me through depressive periods as well because I‘ve just not had the mental bandwidth to concentrate on reading, but I could handle someone reading to me. 2y

The stack of library books I took out before Christmas was due back today. I checked the app to see what they wanted me to do: they've been auto-renewed for three months. So that's how long, in the first instance, the library service is expecting us to be in lockdown this time.

Wishing a joyful solstice to all who celebrate! I always feel it opens the door for Christmas. I have a tradition of baking a fruit cake (rum and raisin this year: I like my cake bare and boozy!) and getting a stack of books from the library (hadn't been since 5th March).

I'm most excited for the Donal Ryan, after @TrishB 's recent posts, but might start with Uhtred son of Uhtred: my increasingly monastic habits could probably use a Dane or two!

squirrelbrain I loved The Travelling Cat, although it is 😢. I‘ve heard great things about At Swim, Two Boys as well. Cake sounds (and looks) yummy! 3y

Lindy I‘ve been wanting to get to Strange Flowers too. I agree with @squirrelbrain about your cake: I could go for a slice! 3y

I hadn't visited the library in ages (I've been prioritising my own books) so naturally when I did go, the inevitable happened. 😊 Judging by some of these titles I was feeling hungry!

No reading today as I am recovering from the migraine that hit me yesterday. 😥
I did, however, go to the library's book group (good discussion of The Light Between Oceans) and of course I picked up a few books to bring home. I was pleased to find MW of W: now I just need to read Act 1 in the next couple of days for #Skakespearereadalong .
