A tragic act of violence echoes through a small Minnesota town Set on the Minnesota prairie in the late 1980s during a drought season thats pushing family farms to the brink, Little Wolves features the intertwining stories of a father searching for answers after his son commits a heinous murder, and a pastors wife (and washed-out scholar of early Anglo-Saxon literature) who has returned to the town for mysterious reasons of her own. A penetrating look at small-town America from the award-winning author of The Night Birds, Little Wolves weaves together elements of folklore and Norse mythology while being driven by a powerful murder mystery; a page-turning literary triumph.

Tragedy strikes in rural Minnesota, 1987. A father struggles to find answers/understand why his son committed murder. A preacher‘s wife moves to the small town looking for answers about her mother. I was immediately drawn to the dynamics of this small farming town; interesting characters, lots of mystery. I especially loved the little wolves (coyotes) and their relationship to the humans in the story. Such an emotional story. 🧡 #MountTBR

Is this a whoopsie? On page 188, Logan came “fresh from the shower, clad only in tighty-whities and black socks” but then on page 189, it says he “sat at the foot of the bed and pulled on his socks.” It makes it sound like he already has his socks on when he comes from the shower, right?

Is this a mistake? It says “as he tried wrap her in a smothering embrace.” -Shouldn‘t there be a ‘to‘ in there? Or should it say ‘wrapping‘ instead?

4/5 stars. Unique and fast-paced. It‘s so interesting that the last book I read was (“Coming of the Dragon” by Rebecca Barnhouse) about Beowulf and Wiglaf and this book mentions that as an ongoing theme. A little confused at the end though, not 100% sure what all happened and why.

Mehso-so

Set in a small prairie town in Minnesota during the 1980s. There's a murder and a mystery and some ghosts and folklore thrown in. I wanted to like this more than I did. While it was a fast and mostly interesting read, something was missing for me. Better than so-so, not quite a pick.

#FunFriday photo :: Guys, I live in Minnesota so I do NOT enjoy cold weather books because I already have enough of that! 😭 Yes, it's hot here too (for me) but give me a novel of Mediterranean Italy any day. That being said, I have a special place in my heart for Minnesota novels. Little Wolves is a beautiful murder mystery that incorporates Norse mythology. It's not set in winter but it's the closest thing I had 😂❄️🌙 Would recommend! @Liberty
