We are not omniscient. Our knowledge and understanding of correct principles is limited by our own lack of awareness of our true nature and the world around us and by the flood of trendy philosophies and the theories that are not in harmony with correct principles. These ideas ideas will have their season of acceptance, but like many before them, they wont endure because they are built on false foundation.

The book is about this guy that basically tells stories about teens and people and the stories basecally teach us a lesson, or he sometimes just gives us advices and tells us how to do the right thing with friends family .He also likes to tell stories about things that happened in his own life so the teens that read this book dont have to go through the bad things that he did and to make sure that the reader is thankfull for what hr has. 250 pages

So, I bought my son this book as he is entering “high school” (he‘s homeschooled/unschooled so it‘s kind of all relative at this point). I decided to browse through it just to see how it could be useful - and now I‘m full out reading it. I know there is one for adults but this one is quite good so far. And, even more importantly, it‘s engaging (a must for the intended audience). Anyhow....#sidetracked #stolehisbook

kyraleseberg I had to read this years ago in my high school psych class & really enjoyed it 👍 6y
TheWordJar We homeschool, too, and though my oldest is just getting ready to enter the middle school years, I‘m always on the lookout for future resources! 6y
TrishTheBibliophile @TheWordJar I would definitely recommend it, but I‘ll follow up with how he likes it - since I guess that‘s most important 😝 They have a journal that goes with it as well. I didn‘t buy that as I figured we could talk through the chapters together but it is available! 6y

This is a very solid way to help middle and high schoolers begin goal-setting and taking more control over their lives. It‘s not so much about developing habits as it is showing students how to cultivate a more proactive mindset. A lot of teenagers hear the same general advice without much explanation as to why or how, & this book breaks it down.

Considering using sections from this book with my Leadership kids next year. Some of these activities seem promising.

I don't like self help books, but I thought this one was somewhat helpful. There were some things I didn't agree with and some I did. Most importantly it was just time for me to get this book done. (I've been reading this book for a year)

I have a terrible confession. I don't trust self help books. AAMOF, I once saw a very handsome man's book shelves once and they were chock-a-block of self help books. Dozens and dozens of them. I ran for the hills and never looked back 😳😰😳😰

RealLifeReading 😂😂I would have done the same 8y
LeahBergen Yep. Me too! 8y
QueenAnne But this one, or Stephen Covey's one (highly effective leadership) is very good! And when you see self help books at people's.. It can be a good thing, they like to keep developing as a person maybe.. I know that's why I read some of them, like Brene Brown❤️📚 8y

This is the weirdest pile of currently reading books I've had. One nonfiction, one contemporary and one science fiction. Hm.
