From the international bestselling author of the Broken Empire Trilogy, the thrilling conclusion to the Red Queens War... Mark Lawrences epic fantasy (The Washington Post) continues as a reluctant prince returns from the bowels of Hell to engage in his greatest battle yetamong the living and the dead. All the horrors of Hell stand between Snorri Ver Snagason and the rescue of his family, if indeed the dead can be rescued. For Jalan Kendeth, getting back out alive and with Lokis key is all that matters. Lokis creation can open any lock, any door, and it may also be the key to Jalans fortune back in the living world. Jalan plans to return to the three ws that have been the core of his idle and debauched life: wine, women, and wagering. Fate however has other plans, larger plans. The Wheel of Osheim is turning ever faster, and it will crack the world unless its stopped. When the end of all things looms, and theres nowhere to run, even the worst coward must find new answers. Jalan and Snorri face many dangers, from the corpse hordes of the Dead King to the many mirrors of the Lady Blue, but in the end, fast or slow, the Wheel of Osheim always pulls you back. In the end its win or die. From the Hardcover edition.

I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 48

Strange that I didn't love this as much as I loved book 1 .There was a lot of fighting and I found myself thinking that it was too much of a good thing. I loved the different versions of Hel fashioned based on different beliefs and also the whole Builder's concept. I just wasn't as enamoured with this book though even though I was amazed with how Jalan's character developed.

An epic conclusion of an epic trilogy. This book left me breathless, made me weep, made me love it with its plot twists, descriptions and battle scenes. I was extremely doubtful about Jalans role in the whole story, about a coward turning into a hero. Guess what, he really is one! Amazing!! 😍
4.2/5

hlgreenfield I've never read his books, but I do have the first one in a trilogy to check out! I'll have to put it higher on my list 8y
KnjiskiZmaj @hlgreenfield The trilogy is amazing! I strongly recommend it! You should check out The Broken Empire trilogy too 😊 8y
