With Torch Against the Night coming out tomorrow, I started my re-read of An Ember in the Ashes! When I looked at my original review, I gave it 3 stars. Since starting again, I've fallen more in love with the characters. I definitely think I am a better reader then I was a year ago. #anemberintheashes #torchagainsthenight

This book absolutely surprised me, the characters are deep and emotional. I was completely invested in the main character Ben. My heart ached for him. Kim Savage's writing in this novel is really fluid and does an excellent job of expressing grief and loss. Don't let the sadness turn you off, it is well done and really makes you want to look at people beyond the surface.

I'm so excited to start Nemesis by Anna Banks! I felt so lucky to be approved on NetGalley! This fantasy novel sounds amazing - Princess Sepora is the last Forger in all the five kingdoms. She creates energy for all but her father intends to weaponize her powers to incite war. I heard there is a little romance in here too! Swooning!

I started this beauty today and within the first 15 pages I was HOOKED. The writing is awesome and already the characters show so much personality. I will never tire of historical fiction or period writing. It's fun to play with the past! This is Kerri Maniscalco's debut novel and I can't wait to see what else is in store!

This book was fantastic! A historical fantasy during WWI in France.

The main character, Ginger was so strong and vibrant, while Ben her fiancé was just as wonderful. Their romance made me cry in a good way.

This ghost story is original and I would love to read more. There is lots of actions and twists that I didn't see coming ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really enjoyed the book. It was a great look into the world of Harry Potter for the final time. I thought the progression of everyone's relationship was excellent, and even the kids made me smile. I wish it didn't end because this world is one of my favorites. I wish I could see it on stage! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Between Two Fires | Mark Noce
Bailedbailed

I commend Mark Noce for diving into medieval Wales however it didn't work for me. The main character lacked in emotion and reflection to her actions and choices.

Everything also felt "clean" and it's all seemed to "work out". I was looking for romance, lust, blood, Royal back stabbing, and within the first half of the book there was little if any plot movement. I felt underwhelmed and disappointed ⭐️⭐️

What a beautiful world this book is set in! I love the desert and the myths that are intertwined into the characters and story. This was a great book! It was recommended if you enjoyed The Chaos Walking series. It certainly had that feel with the writing and characters. I really liked the "after Orleans" world they were living in. The sea levels had risen destroying America. The kids would scavenge old tankers for copper and metal to make money but some rewards are bigger than others! I recommend for an entertaining and enjoyable read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I gave up after 150 pages, and I'm confident I could have gave up sooner. Wordy, Dry, and Petty to start. I did not care about a single character or wish to look into their incredible boring and mundane lives. I believe this book could have greatly benefited from some good British humor and a plot

itsbrb I joined a book club last year and this was the first book for it. I assumed everyone read ALL the books so I suffered through this one, come to find out I was the only one to finish. 😳 It was horrible. 8y

NautiGirlReads @itsbrb what's a postal book club? 8y
itsbrb @NautiGirlReads my best friend had to move to Germany (also in military) and was a part of all three of the same book clubs I was in. We wanted to continue reading together so us two and five others from all over (Iowa, Ohio, VA, NC) each read a separate book and then send it to the next person on the list (we have a set list that I created so the person you send to never changes) along with a notebook and notes about the book you read. 8y
itsbrb @NautiGirlReads we started this past December and we send the books every two months. It's been amazing so far and so personalized because of everyone actually writing in the notebook. I have never met two of the people in the book in person, so that's pretty cool. Got the idea from Books on the Nightstand podcast, I believe. 8y
itsbrb So if you have one or two people interested and they have one or two interested, it's perfect! I will say that six is the magic number because then you read everyone's book by the end of the year. We had seven interested but it's still working just fine! 😊 sorry for all the posts! @NautiGirlReads 8y

I got to 100 pages and discovered this book was more about a high school newspaper vs. a high school tv program, not about the fun cute romance I was expecting. Jules I found annoying, at first I didn't mind her quirks but then it became over kill and brought down her character.
