panI love the Expanse series, but this in between novella didn't do it for me. One of the things that I LOVE about the Expanse is getting to spend time with the crew of the Rocinante, and they were missing from this one. Glad I got this from the library and didn't pay for it.

so-soI had a issue figuring out where this one fit in. This novella is really a filler piece giving unnecessary background info for the sake of fleshing out a part of the Expanse universe that needed the least elaboration- the books had already done a great job depicting what type of psychopath developed the protomolecule- we had Dresden! The story does point to some plot threads but that hardly makes this one worth it.

There is nothing so destructive and also so easy to overlook as a bad idea.
