This was just.. bad. Author basically googled magazine articles and watched all Jon Stewart‘s tv appearances and threw a bunch of quotes together and tried to call it a biography? It‘s clear she never even spoke to him. And the audio narrator did a really terrible job with this book as well. At least it was short.

It's actually mostly cloudy. And it's windy for watching football but that's what I'm doing tonight. Reading slump continues. 😕

Books_Wine_Repeat So jealous!! 😤 7y

The reading slump continues.
I have literally started and stopped reading at least 15 books over the last 2 weeks.
Nothing is holding my interest. 😝😝😝😝😝
Help!!!!!!

EvieBee What genre have you been trying to read? 7y
Kalalalatja Have you tried rereading a favourite book? 7y
Velvetsun @EvieBee84 I've tried literary fiction, historical fiction, YA, romance....you name it. @Kalalalatja I'm not big on re reading books....so that doesn't usually help when I'm in a slump. 7y

CoverToCoverGirl Try this one it's the start of an outstanding series (edited) 7y
EvieBee Ah, okay. That's the way my slumps are and I don't reread either. I think I mostly didn't know what I was in the mood for until It accidentally fell into my lap! More picky that usual. A few that did it for me were: BRAIN ON FIRE (NF), WHERE THE HEART IS (Literary Fiction), PIONEER WOMAN (Memoir), AN UNSUITABLE JOB FOR A WOMAN (Feminist Mystery). Kind of a smattering of different things that held my attention. Hope that helps! ❤️❤️ 7y
vivastory I find graphic novels & poetry are good for getting out of reading slumps 7y
CoffeeBooksRepeat This has been me for the past week! 7y
Reviewsbylola I hate this. 😭 Sometimes it helps me to find a new release that I've really been anticipating. Or even just going to browse around a bookstore. Or I just have to not even try to read. 7y
Wife Maybe an audiobook?🎧 7y
Bookzombie @Wife That would be my suggestion too. Maybe a series you like or even revisiting an old favorite. 7y
Gissy Maybe a classic could help! 7y
EllieDottie I'm sorry I hate reading slumps ... This is just for me, but when I'm in a slump I pick up a mystery because normally the suspense in the book keeps me reading! 7y

Bailedbailed

First Bail of The Year!

I'm calling it... not sure if it's the book or me, but I'm just not able to fall into this audiobook at all! I got this audio from hoopla and I thought it might be a nice lead up to the new The Daily Show: An Oral History and on the perfect week to listen to this... but nope it sounds like someone reading his Wikipedia page to me. Hopefully the new book is better since I bought that one already.

FairyHighRoad I read The Daily Show: An Oral History and loved it! If you're a fan of the show, it was really interesting to read about everything that happened backstage. 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @LagerthaShieldMaiden Whew! I'm glad to hear it because I was looking forward to it! 8y
Gezemice I have the Oral History as well and I hope it is better! 8y

Mehso-so

The structure of this needed some work - it was neither chronological nor organized by topic, so I sometimes got a little lost. The audiobook reader was a tad annoying, too - she didn't need to give all of the women Valley Girl inflections. I might have dropped out if I didn't love Jon Stewart so.

wanderlustywriter Do you watch John Oliver? Not the same obviously, but pretty entertaining regardless! 8y
BookishFeminist @wanderlustywriter JOHN OLIVER IS THE BEST. 8y
BookishFeminist Also @elkeo Jon was on Colbert a few weeks ago during the party conventions, I'm sure there's a clip of it on Colbert's site or on YouTube! It was glorious! 🙌🏼 8y

elkeOriginal @wanderlustywriter @BookishFeminist YES! I LOVE John Oliver. I wish he was on every night! Saw him live once and it was a life highlight, for sure. ❤️💕 8y
elkeOriginal @BookishFeminist I do watch Colbert still and saw Jon - it made me so happy to hear him rant again. Nice to see him - and his friendship with Stephen is awesome 🙂 8y
Laalaleighh I would marry Jon Stewart. He's responsible for my political awakening and he's hilarious. I have such a crush on him. Don't care that he's twice/three times my age. 8y
elkeOriginal @Laalaleighh I wholeheartedly agree on all points!! 8y
wanderlustywriter @Laalaleighh Agreed, would marry him now despite his age. But have you SEEN videos of young Jon Stewart?!?!? Oh man... so jealous of his wife! 8y
Laalaleighh @wanderlustywriter there is a joke among my friend group where they take pictures of young Jon Stewart and pictures of my boyfriend and play the can you who's who game. Of course to me they look totally different but I find it hilarious and flattering haha. Young Jon Stewart = 🙋🏻🙋🏻🙋🏻🙋🏻😍 8y
