This book was one of the most enjoyable I‘ve read this year. It wasn‘t perfect—a bit too melodramatic—but taking place, as it does, in Harlem and Paris during the 1920s, it‘s set me on a massive Harlem Renaissance- and Jazz Age Paris-related book buying binge (haul photo to follow). Any book that leads down a literary history rabbit hole ranks high with me. 🤓 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I feel like the things happening to Ben happened because the story needed to move forward. It was lovingly written though because I could feel the affection Okonkwo had for the material. I feel like I was there experiencing these things with him. But something was missing. Still not sure what it was. #amreading #bookworm #bibliophile #bookish #booknerdigans #bookblogger #tsundoku #greatreads #readmorebooks #coolgirlsread
Created this photo using whiteout, purple tissue paper, a steady hand, and a lot of googling. Hard to believe this is a debut book! This is set in the Harlem Renaissance and Jazz Age Paris. Mix of a love story, coming of age story, and historical fiction. Recommended for those needing a literary armchair vacation this weekend!
