I‘m embarrassed to admit how long this one took me 🤦🏼‍♀️ but life happens 🤷🏼‍♀️
I loved this book and I wish I could have gotten through it quicker. Hyde did not disappoint 👍🏻

Little man is tucked in, daddy is working hard getting the farm and cows ready for spring and summer, and momma has a comfy blanket and a book so that I can hopefully stay up til he gets in tonight! Farmer‘s wife is just one of my roles, and at times it can be the hardest of them all 🐮

I was not a huge fan of this. Took me way too long to read. Coming of age story of a young man who is small for his age and intimidated by everything, including his parents. Goes on a search for his dad in the mountains on horseback and suddenly is a braver, new man. Meh.

Taking me awhile to read this. Hoping to finish soon so I can write up my review.

Ethan is 17 and miserable: he's clumsy, harboring a bad case of anxiety, and nobody believes in him, least of all Ethan himself. His parents split after his chauvinistic father is caught cheating, and his mother sends Ethan to spend the summer with his father in the mountains, where tragedy strikes. Ethan must dig deep inside himself to prove everyone wrong: he is capable of immense bravery after all, and is stronger than anyone knows.

"That was the moment Ethan heard the noise. The sound. That part of the experience Ethan would always remember very clearly, no matter how much time went by. It was a sound that could have come from an animal. Except the only animals up here on the ledge were human."

“I‘m sorry for your loss.”

"Thank you,” she said. “I‘m sorry for yours.”

"But my dad‘s not dead.”

"That‘s not the loss I meant. I was talking about the one where you found out the dad you loved so much wasn‘t really worth all that love you‘d invested.”

Seventeen year old Ethan is small for his age and looks years younger. His parents are both into extreme sports and he never measures up. When his selfish father disappears in the wilderness, Ethan goes searching for him. Regrets and redemption.

Though the cover brings to mind a Western romance, that is not at all what this book is. Our young protagonist, Ethan, has a pretty messed up relationship with his Dad, played out in the first few chapters of the book. Later in the book, Ethan's Dad goes missing and Ethan, never known for bravery or fortitude, decides he must go find him. This is a story of family, self-discovery, friendship, and adventure. #bookisholympics book four
