The first of many Beatles books I‘m going to be tackling this year ✨ heard really good things about this one from uber fans of the band and I like that it has an emphasis on not just the band but what was going on in the sixties at the time and how the two impacted each other.

LaraS Ooo looks interesting. This Boy was recently recommended to me too, I might just have to read a Beatles double header next year 13mo

#HeyJune

There are several editions of this book, which seems appropriate; there are several versions of #Revolution. I will never, ever like “Revolution No. 9.” 🤷🏻‍♀️

parttimedomestic I have a very vivid memory of a nightmare I had as a kid when I fell asleep in the car while Revolution no. 9 was playing. It still freaks me out. 😨 7y

A very strong January with 20 books read. My favourite was Ian Macdonald's look at the Beatles' music.

Ask Me Why this is a pick. This is fantastically thorough in its analysis and assessment of Beatles songs and will prompt you to Get Back to all your favourite Beatles songs. Don't Pass [it] By! Something else it includes is a glossary of music terms and a short note on the best further reading. Highly recommended.

I knew the Beatles' relationships had deteriorated significantly by the time Abbey Road was made, but yikes.

umbrellagirl I mean, it was a chocolate biscuit. Not just a plain one. I‘d be angry too 🤣 7y
rabbitprincess @umbrellagirl Agreed, especially a dark chocolate one! 7y

Introverting with a book and these hilarious chips. Santa brought them in response to the fact that I ate tons of chicken tikka masala ready meals on our last UK trip 😂

Ole Great book! 🤩🎶 7y
jhod 😂are they nice?! 7y
rabbitprincess @Ole Still on the introduction! So far so good. @jhod Not bad! They're pretty spicy so I can't have too many at a time. 7y

Looking forward to reading this on a future visit to my parents; I'm storing it at their place with all the other Beatles books.

My parents are coming up for a visit this weekend, and naturally this means we are exchanging books. With limited shelf space in my apartment, I use my parents' bookshelves as a strategic holding bay.

Also hey, my first book rainbow! 🌈

Finished reading this book. It gives a fantastic in depth analysis and background to each Beatles song, as well as a background to each person involved in creating each song. Ian MacDonald gives some critical feedback to his less favoured songs.

Extremely in depth information about every song. Good if you want to know more about the music and how their life at the time as well as how the world at the time affected it. Recommended for anyone with any kind of vague interest in the Beatles or the 60s.
