The Remaking of Corbin Wale
The Remaking of Corbin Wale | Roan Parrish
5 posts | 10 read | 6 to read
Last month, Alex Barrow's whole life imploded-partner, home, job, all gone in forty-eight hours. But sometimes when everything falls apart, better things appear almost like magic. Now, he's back in his Michigan hometown, finally opening the bakery he's always dreamed of. But the pleasure of opening day is nothing compared to the lonely and beautiful man who bewitches Alex before he even orders. Corbin Wale is a weirdo. At least, that's what he's heard his whole life. He knows he's often in a fantasy world, but the things he feels are very real. And so is the reason why he can never, ever be with Alex Barrow. Even if Alex is everything he's always fantasized about. Even if maybe, just maybe, Corbin is Alex's fantasy too. When Corbin begins working at the bakery, he and Alex can't deny their connection any longer. As the holiday season works its magic, Alex yearns for the man who seems out of reach. But to be with Alex, Corbin will have to challenge every truth he's ever known. If his holiday risk pays off, two men from different worlds will get the love they've always longed for. * * * Ten percent of all proceeds from this title will be donated to the Russian LGBT Network.

This was an interesting story 🤔. Corbin was so different from any other character I've read before. I was a little lost at certain parts of the story but I enjoyed the connection these two had.

Nutmegnc I enjoyed this one. 2y
chasjjlee @Nutmegnc it was sweet and different. I'm glad I did the list swap because I'm finding these books that I haven't seen before ♥️. 2y
Nutmegnc I think I‘ve read most, if not all by this author. This one remains a bit different but I still liked enough to read twice 🥰. 2y

Got a lot done today and I am treating myself to laying down and reading. First up was finishing this wintery, dreamy romance! Made me want some fresh baked treats.

I love how Roan Parrish‘s books aren‘t just one thing. THE REMAKING OF CORBIN WALE is an ambiguously magical small business culinary Chanukah romance, and it succeeds at each of those subgenres. I love the food, I love the fledgling cafe, I love the holiday spirit, I love how the characters connect on their own terms, and I love how Corbin‘s magic works. Is it real to anyone but him? Parrish handles it well as she digs into his worldview.

xicanti Since so much of the story revolves around baking, I stuck a mini eggnog trifle in the picture. My eggnog cupcakes came out a hair overbaked, so I gave ‘em a new life instead of binning them. It was a good choice. 4y
aartichapati I saw “Roan Parrish” and it somehow in my mind became Ronan Lynch and Adam Parrish from the Raven King Cycle! Very very different. 4y
xicanti @aartichapati this was also my thought the first time I saw her name! 4y
aartichapati @xicanti ha, glad it wasn‘t just me! 4y

A little weird, but fantastical and lyrical. Corbin is different from just about any character I've ever seen before.

This was the sweetest off-beat lgbtq 🏳️‍🌈 romance. Steamy in places but mostly genuinely sweet and light. Thanks for the recommendation, Litsy world 🌎. I can't remember whose TBR list I stole this from, but it was a lucky steal. I especially needed this after being stuck in the vortex of melancholy created by Call Me By Your Name.
