Enjoyed this graphic memoir wherein the author, an immigrant, travels Route 66 from LA to Chicago. I loved the illustrations and it makes me long for another extended road trip one day. Thanks again for the rec @megnews. #hoopla

The American Dream? took me on a road trip across Route 66 from LA to Chicago. The trip is interesting. The watercolors are beautiful.
This is a quick book I‘d recommend.

Au contraire!

Hooked_on_books No, I think this is accurate. Better to have a year‘s worth. 😬 5y

It was a quick little read with a great glimpse into America‘s complicated past and present as an American immigrant goes on a journey to discover more of America‘s past and maybe to feel more included, but also a lot about camping, roadside tourist traps, and the longing for home and a sense of belonging.

I can relate to that packing struggle! 😂

wanderinglynn But I have to disagree. Books should always go under the “things I need” category. 🤣 5y

Mehso-so

There were aspects of this books I loved, and aspects that I just really didn‘t appreciate, and honestly it seemed to be lacking.

sarahs.thoughts.on.books Please elaborate on what you didn't appreciate. Thanks 5y
