Wow! What a beautiful, heart wrenching story about a young slave who becomes free due to the chances he has in his life. What a beautiful historical fiction.

This was an interesting fictional historical account of a slave, Robert Smalls. Robert Smalls was an actual person that did free himself and several other slaves during the Civil War by commandeering a Southern ship. Most of the accounts were fictional and the author did a decent job of interweaving fact & fiction. The book makes me miss home (we live in CA but we‘re from NC & my husband proposed to me in Charleston). #bookspin #LMBPC

Getting ready to start my book & wanted to let everyone know I was using green as my color. This is my first time doing a #LMPBC so I want to make sure that I‘m doing the right thing. Looking forward to starting.

rsteve388 There no right or wrong way. Just read and mark up the spots you find interesting. 3y
