I‘m not really sure what to say about this one. It was okay but I think I expected to love this like I loved The Disasters but that just didn‘t happen. I liked it but wasn‘t super drawn into it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️2020.04.28 🎧. I enjoyed this book for the most part. Great laugh out loud lines and antics. Some parts were very drawn out and overly examined. At times I didn‘t like the main character. Also the issue at the crux of the story was a bit unnerving given our current state of affairs. Still an enjoyable enough story. (Disasters is still my favorite by far!)
This seemed like a lot of fun, but the pace was off for me. It jumps straight into the action, and then the characterization waits until later. The problem is that without this characterization, Diz seems like kind of a brat and that's the perspective we're given. I didn't feel really invested in the story until probably halfway through. That being said, from that point on, it was a fun enough ride. Just probably not one I'd want to revisit.
This was very disappointing. I enjoyed the author‘s first book, The Disasters but this one failed for me in many ways, from the characters being either unlikable or uninteresting to the storyline falling flat, it just missed the mark. Hopefully the next book the author will turn it around.
This is such a fun book. Magic meets technology and perfect pacing as Diz and friends find themselves on the run after what was supposed to be one last, easy heist.
I did feel that the ending was left wide open for a sequel, so hopefully that will be announced. I felt connected to this family and I want to see what they get up to next, hopefully changing the entire world and taking down the evil MMC Corporation.

We hosted M.K. England at the bookstore yesterday for a pre-release party for Spellhacker- and it was a blast. Both the event and the book. Futuristic, fun, diverse, and magical!

Getting close to the end and really enjoying this book!
Grabbing a quick bite and a quick read before pinball! I love how positively Diz thinks about her friends, it's just a reminder to celebrate the every day awesomeness makes up the people we love. So far this is a fun, snarky sci-fi, which is totally my jam!
Going from one job to the next, with a break for beer and a book!
Diving into this arc, finally! The author is coming to the store for an event this month and I can't wait!
A savvy blend of sci fi and creative magical world building. The characters were endearing in their imperfections, relatably like trying to hug a teen porcupine. Good representation of a non binary character and chronic illness. Full of action, snappy humor, and even environmental commentary should you choose to notice. The magic killer bunnies were my favorite. I loved it!
* I borrowed this ARC from a friend who obtained it at NCTE.
Another one added to the TBR. This one will be out January 2020
