Stitching Snow
Stitching Snow | R.C. Lewis
Princess Snow is missing. Her home planet is filled with violence and corruption at the hands of King Matthias and his wife as they attempt to punish her captors. The king will stop at nothing to get his beloved daughter backbut that's assuming she wants to return at all. Essie has grown used to being cold. Temperatures on the planet Thanda are always sub-zero, and she fills her days with coding and repairs for the seven loyal drones that run the local mines. When a mysterious young man named Dane crash-lands near her home, Essie agrees to help the pilot repair his ship. But soon she realizes that Dane's arrival was far from accidental, and she's pulled into the heart of a war she's risked everything to avoid. In her enthralling debut, R.C. Lewis weaves the tale of a princess on the run from painful secrets . . . and a poisonous queen. With the galaxy's futureand her ownin jeopardy, Essie must choose who to trust in a fiery fight for survival.

Went to our used bookstore that is part of our public library. I behaved myself. Two books on the left are my sons picks and the other two are mine which were already on my TBR. My daughter also picked out four books but she was upstairs with them to fast.

I liked it. Not my favorite retelling, plus there were some weird elements thrown in towards the end of the book that I didn't care for. But overall this was an enjoyable read.

A fun Snow White retelling set to a space opera backdrop. Kick ass main character, fast paced plot, plenty of action, solidly written with intriguing world building. I really enjoyed this standalone.

New in-progress I've had on my shelf for awhile. The title drew me in; the cover hooked me. Also fairytale retellings are my genre kryptonite.
