Pickpick

This book is Persian storytelling at its best. By following the family of a traditional imam who lives in the house of the mosque, we learn how Persia became Iran, how modern influences created the rise of the fundamentalists, how the Shah had to step aside for Khomeini, how allies Iraq and America became enemies and how hard life became for common muslims like the author who fled to the Netherlands and wrote down this highly recommended story.

#WeeklyForecast 41//20

I am reading Ali and Nino for #ReadingEurope2020, which I am enjoying a lot. I also read the tagged book (in Dutch), partly in print, partly on audio.
Next I am looking forward to Apeirogon and the novella The Vet‘s Daughter.
