Caged Queen
Caged Queen | Kristen Ciccarelli
Kristen Ciccarelli's distinct brand of lyrical, haunting fantasy continues in the companion to her bestselling debut, The Last Namsara. Perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore and Renee Ahdieh.Once there were two sisters born with a bond so strong that it forged them together forever. Roa and Essie called it the hum. It was a magic they cherished--until the day a terrible accident took Essie's life and trapped her soul in this world.Dax--the heir to Firgaard's throne--was responsible for the accident. Roa swore to hate him forever. But eight years later he returned, begging for her help. He was determined to dethrone his cruel father, under whose oppressive reign Roa's people had suffered.Roa made him a deal: she'd give him the army he needed if he made her queen. Only as queen could she save her people from Firgaard's rule. Then a chance arises to right every wrong--an opportunity for Roa to rid herself of this enemy king and rescue her beloved sister. During the Relinquishing, when the spirits of the dead are said to return, Roa discovers she can reclaim her sister for good. All she has to do is kill the king.

These are the instances when I wish there was more than 5 stars.

The story Kristen weaves is one that is truly original and mesmerizing. Road is a beautifully flawed character just trying to find her place in the world with so many people who are out to get something from her. She doesn‘t realized that missing key to her puzzle was never missing at all.

Asha isn't the main character in this one but that doesn't mean that it isn't good.
I really enjoyed it. Reading about a different view.
Needed more dragons though.

I loved this book. I loved the world and the writing and the story. I found it slightly predictable but I found myself not caring because I was still invested in the story.

I WAS listening to this audiobook but scribd removed it. Ives has issues with my wish list being moved to coming soon, but after this I‘m canceling. I need to know I can actually finish the books I start. 😭😡 related note what audiobook service do you recommend? I also you overdrive and audible. #audiobook #scribd

Traci1 If your library has Hoopla, they have a really decent selection of audiobooks. I use Audible for things I can't get off Overdrive (Libby) or Hoopla. 6y
SassyBookworm I also use Hoopla. It seems to have a better selection of audiobooks for what I like and I don‘t have to wait for them. 6y
Cityofamber @Traci1 sadly my library doesn‘t use hoopla :( 6y

Addressing holiday cards has got to be one of the most boring tasks. Thank goodness for my audio book! 🎄📚🎧

Wow this was WAY different than The Last Namsara. A lot more romantic writing and it worked quite well with the plot. Actually total trash for the romance. I don't think anything within the plot really surprised me--in fact, it was quite predictable but I still enjoyed it. I think the paranormal magic aspect was REALLY cool and not what I was expecting.
