Things go from shady oppressive government to running from a hostile government takeover (that we all saw coming) really fast in this volume. I'm always a fan of knowledge keepers providing safe haven. I really enjoyed watching the characters and story continue to develop, and feel like we got even more beautiful panel breaking art. #Comics #PoliticalIntrigue

Kenyazero Used for #OwlHouseReadathon Raine: a clever or resourceful character and a confident shy character. 5mo
TieDyeDude I really enjoyed this series. I learned of it playing one of the Uncharted video games; it was a book that could be interacted with on a bookshelf. 5mo
Kenyazero @TieDyeDude now I'm going to have to replay Uncharted and find that! 5mo
TieDyeDude It was in Cassie's room in Uncharted 4. It must have been at the end of the game, there was a short sequence when you play as her. 5mo
Kenyazero @TieDyeDude then I'm in luck. Despite owning it for a long time, we haven't played 4 yet! I'll definitely look for this. How fun! 5mo

This is a solid well written fantasy with romance. It took me a while to finish, but I did appreciate the solid world building. It just felt much longer than it actually is, I‘m not sure if it was me being distracted by work this month or the writing, so I still recommend and will at some point continue the series. 4⭐️

Alas, I‘m gonna bail on THE TYRANNY OF FAITH at 32%. It‘s the right book for a plot-driven reader, or for one who really connects with the characters, but it‘s the wrong book for me. I‘m bored and frustrated more often than I‘m entertained, and I feel like certain of Swan‘s storytelling decisions destroy the tension. If I had stronger emotions about these characters, I‘d probably have the opposite take. Since I don‘t, I‘m out. 😔

LiteraryinPA Sounds like you gave it ample time. 🤷🏻‍♀️ On to better things! 8mo
xicanti @LiteraryinLawrence it was also the sequel to a book I rather liked but didn‘t love. A pretty big chunk of the time, I approach a book like that and find the issues that kept me at a distance in the first volume are resolved in the second, but here the author doubled down on them. Sadness. 8mo

I really loved Naime from the first scene. Makram was also an interesting character. I adored their chemistry.

I loved the atmosphere, it felt exotic and had awesome political arguments. I loved those tensions! This was also quite intriguing because there was a thread of war present and people had their own opinions what to do about it.

It takes a couple of chapters but when this one gets going it is relentless. I pretty much read the whole thing like this 🫣 & will have to read it again, more slowly to get everything. Impossible to look away from this complex, intricately plotted story that rages, tortures, despairs, & reminds you to never trust anyone. And just when you & the characters think you have a grasp on things, WHAM, you realize that you don‘t. And the ending…so good.

🎧I loved this book! Book 2 in a fantastic fantasy trilogy.

A mysterious illness, an unrequited love, more darkness, TEMPLARS! Darkness! What did this author leave out? Nothing!

Great narration! I wish I could have waited to read this cuz now I have to wait wait wait …

Monday book mail. This was a Goldsboro pre-order that matches my February 2022 GSFF monthly subscription box of Justice of Kings.

Three stenciled edges, signed & numbered.

Need to add this to my TBR!
