⭐️⭐️⭐️ I bought this for my oldest son last year (then age 7), but there‘s a tragic car crash in the introduction, and it hurt my baby‘s heart. He has vehemently refused to pick it back up. After seeing for myself, I understand why. Thankfully, it‘s less dismal once the origin story gets rolling. We meet odd characters and creatures in another version of Earth. The strange transforming house is cool AF! Compelling enough to check out Book Two.

Ruthiella I got this for my niece and nephew. They were not phased at all by opening crash but were maybe a bit older than your son... I was super pleased when my niece wanted to continue with the series. 😀 4y
britt_brooke @Ruthiella He‘s a very sensitive little dude. ☺️ I think it‘s going to be a fun series. Maybe one day he‘ll decide to try it again. 4y
Cinfhen Awwwww, your little dude sounds like a REALLY sweet boy 💚 4y

In this first book in the Amulet series we are introduced to the characters. We first meet Emily as she looses her dad in a car crash. 2 yrs later, her mom moves her and her brother Navin, to an old family home. On their first night in the house, their mom get kidnapped by a creature in the house. Now Emily and Navin have to save their mother.

I‘ve already put a hold on the second book at the library and will pick it up tomorrow.

The setup of this book is interesting, as is the story and concept. If you like robots, magic, and cursed animals, this may be a good pick for you! I'm a bit iffy on the art style sometimes, like the mom's weird jellybean head. #magic #graphicnovel #robots #comic
