Holy Mischief
Holy Mischief: In Honor and Celebration of Women in Ministry | Mindy Makant
3 posts | 1 read
The ELCA has been ordaining women for fifty years. Mindy Makant interviews eighty-five female pastors across the Southeast about their lives as women in ministry in a culture that has been slow to embrace them. This book is their story.

This was my April #TripleSpin read, which I read during #DeweysReadathon while my partner @CounterfeitNickel read too. (Love being with a reader. 💕) Mindy Makant interviewed 85 female ELCA Lutheran pastors in the U.S. South about their lives as women in ministry, and it's a hard and beautiful thing to read about, especially as a woman from the South on my way to ordained ministry. If this is a thing you want to read, you'll probably enjoy it!

Caterina Note: Mostly about white straight women, and entirely about cis women. Wish it wasn't so trans-exclusionary, white, and hetero, but that's a reality in the pool of possible women to interview. 4y

My early morning set-up. 😊 The top two books are for fun and the other three are for seminary! Spending some time with the tagged first. Excited for my mandarin oranges, Earl Grey tea, and the perfect silence of the apartment. 🥰🥰🥰

My Christmas #bookhaul consists of two books, the tagged + a textbook for my spring semester, but many book-adjacent items such as tea, chocolate, socks, knitting, a candle, and a Litograph infinity scarf with the Aeneid on it! 😊 Very excited about the tagged book, it's based on interviews with female ministers in my denomination across the Southeast U.S., which is where I'm from.

Crazeedi Merry Christmas my friend! 4y
Scochrane26 I‘ll have to recommend the tagged book to my female pastor friends (Presbyterian USA). 4y
