This was my blind date with a book! Looks super good and can‘t wait to read it 😄
so-soIf you haven‘t read any Murakami yet I don‘t recommend this be your first. If you have already enjoyed some of his other works this is a nice one to check off your list.
I appreciate his style, because at the end everything isn‘t all wrapped up with a pretty bow. I enjoy the balance he strikes between strange and opaque. I find this book to lean a little more towards opaque, hence the So-So rating.

so-soThere‘s no plot in Murakami‘s first book, but it does introduce themes that he returns to again and again in later works. It also seems semi-autobiographical, from what I know about Murakami. The men are lonely, divorced and utterly clueless about women. But they do have good taste in music. It‘s the first book in The Rat series, but you won‘t miss much if you skip it.

pickBook 4 for #AuthoraMonth - March.This is a short book & the first book Murakami wrote from what he calls his immature period). It was written at his Kitchen Table whilst he had other employment. I have to say I quite enjoyed this one and it really felt you were living his life alongside Rat and the Narrator. It takes place following the suicide of a former girlfriend. It has a different style to his later work but no poorer for that. Worth a read.
