The Devil's Footprints
The Devil's Footprints | Amanda Stevens
6 posts | 6 read | 4 to read
The footprints were etched in the snow for miles, passing through walls and crossing riversappearing on the other side as though no barrier could stop them. In 1922 a farmer in Adamant, Arkansas, awakes to a noise on his roof and finds his snow-blanketed yard marked with thousands of cloven footprints. The prints vanish with the melting snowonly to reappear seventy years later near the gruesome killing of Rachel DeLaune. Years after her sister's unsolved murder, New Orleans tattoo artist Sarah DeLaune is haunted by the mysteries of her past. Sarah has always believed that her sister was killed by a man named Ashe Cain. But no one else had ever seen Ashe. He had "appeared" to Sarah when she needed a friend the most, only to vanish on the night of her sister's murder. The past bleeds into the present when two mutilated bodies are found near Sarah's home, the crime scene desecrated by cloven footprints.

Kicking off #scarathlon with Silent Book Club (and finishing last month‘s #LMPBC 😬). The cider is loganberry and the popcorn is truffle oil and Parmesan. Delish.

Maggie4483 Hi! Just wanted to check in and see if this got sent for the last round of #LMPBC? I‘m not ever notified when packages arrive, so I thought I‘d check with you. Thank you! 1y
BeckyWithTheGoodBooks Yes - it was sent last week! I just checked tracking and it looks like it is still in transit. Annoying since I sent it priority. I‘ll keep my eye on it! (edited) 1y

• Read in August 2023 for Litsy Markup Postal Book Club #LMPBC Round 18 - Group H (is for horror)

Amanda Stevens is quite a prolific writer. It makes me wonder why I‘m not familiar with her work before now. If you enjoy supernatural fiction, don‘t let her books slip past you. I really enjoyed this fast-paced thriller that combines elements of folklore, mystery, and horror. 4 Stars from me!

vonnie862 You should really try her Graveyard Queen books. 1y
suvata @vonnie862 I‘ll add them to my TBR. I like her conversational writing style. 1y

This book was more of a thriller/suspense than horror to it. However, there were some creepy parts.

This was really good. Sarah is haunted by her past and a killer is out on a spree. This book had me engaged and trying to guess who the killer was. I give it 4 ⭐️.

I am currently reading 4 four books: a physical book, an ebook, an audiobook, and a buddy-read with the hubby. My readings are creating a very interesting person of me this week. 😅

Ruthiella Yup! That‘s pretty much how I operate too. I don‘t think I‘ll ever go back to reading just one book at a time. 1y
dabbe I'm trying to (currently reading 4), but, man, I struggle to get back into each book and remember all the details. Maybe practice will make me better, right? 🤩😍🤗 1y
vonnie862 @Ruthiella During the school year, I have 1-2 books going at the same time. My IEPs and multidisciplinary reports take a lot of my time and energy. But like you, I prefer to have multiple books going at the same time. 1y

vonnie862 @dabbe It helps me to read different genre of books at the same time. Right now I am reading a nonfiction book on evolution, a fantasy book, a thriller, and a sci-fi book. This helps with my various moods. 1y
Amiable @dabbe I'm with @vonnie862 and @ruthiella -- I read multiple books at once, but they usually need to be in different genres. Or at least different enough that there isn't any bleed. Currently reading 6: 1 classic, 1 contemporary fiction, 1 biography, 1 nonfiction and 2 memoirs. I am a mood reader, so I don't always feel like reading a specific book when I want to sit down and read. With 6 books going, I'm in the mood for at least one of them! 😃 1y
dabbe @Ruthiella @vonnie862 @Amiable ... excellent advice! I've had mysteries going at the same time--way too confusing to keep track of all the clues/red herrings. I'll try it your way next time! 🤩🤗😍 1y
