Okayaprilmae @katy4peas what‘s a buddy read???! 4y
katy4peas Oh! I‘m kinda new to it, but several people read through the books together with an agreed on timeline and share posts and maybe have discussion questions. There are some for all sorts of books and series. There is #heycarrots that reads thru Anne of Green Gables, #pemberlittens is reading Jane Austen, #potteraday is reading Harry Potter and there is one for the Flavia de luce mysteries by Alan Bradley too. @Okayaprilmae 😁 4y
katy4peas Also #sundaybuddyread discusses part of a book on Sundays on @TheBookHippie page and the book is different each month. They are fun. 👍🏼 4y
Okayaprilmae @katy4peas that sounds fun! I could read the series with son! 4y

#Booked2019 #Summer #DiverseMiddleGrade

This book made me laugh out loud, and I would never have read it if it weren‘t for the prompt. It‘s set in a household with two fathers and four adopted boys, of diverse ethnicities. It reminded me so much of one of my old favorites, Shirley Jackson, and her memoirs about family life—Life Among the Savages & Raising Demons—households filled with chaos and calamity. This is an utterly charming book, and ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ it would be ideal for middle-graders. Just delightful! 5y
JennyM I‘m stacking for my 9 year old (and me). This sounds fantastic. 👍 (edited) 5y

This is a great book because it is unconventional in the sense that the family has two dads, but the focus is still on the children and seeing them overcome their issues.

This is about a family of boys who navigate their way through school, friends, fitting in, and other nonsense that happens in school. This book had some crude humor in it and would probably be best suited for upper elementary aged kids who can (sort of) handle that sort of humor.

This is a great book to read to understand how every family is different. I also really enjoyed this book because when I was younger, we would never have read a book about a family with two dads. I think it is really important to let students be knowledgeable about things like this.

Contemporary Realistic Fiction Published in 2014
This story is about a family with four adopted boys with two dads. This is a great book for an older elementary class to read to understand how every family looks different.

Papa gave a quiet snort that everyone head anyway. No one needed to ask him why. Papa dropped out of college his freshman year to start building a computer model full time.

blurb

This story has a classic family story that was shaped into a more modern mold. Each of the four boys has a chance to tell their own story.

The misadventures of the family fletcher by Dana Alison Levy is a realistic fiction book that was published in 2014. This is a story that has four boys and two dads as the main characters. The whole story is about how crazy of a life the boys have and how they are making their dads go ballistic. The school isn‘t going as good as they had thought. The fletchers get new neighbors and all they do is complain.

Comical chapter book that has a note written from someone under each chapter. Teaches a great lesson about expectations and is a fun, adventurous read for children.

2014, contemporary literature. Story about the 3 Fletcher brothers who have plans for how they want the school year to go. Things do not go as plan and they have a lot of complaints. They learn that sometimes what you least expect is what you may end up caring about the most.
