A very enjoyable read with memorable characters. Written in short vignettes, it is easy to pick up for short reading sessions. 🇫🇮

The Summer Book was the first book we read this month for the Tove Jansson Author Spotlight.

This is a unique story about the relationship of a grandmother and her granddaughter Sophia, set on a tiny island in the Gulf of Finland during a warm summer.

Told in beautiful prose, it deals with life and death, old and young, nature, resilience and loss.
A great first meeting with Jansson!

The Author Spotlight series is hosted by @HardcoverHearts

HardcoverHearts I have such a deep love for this surprising gem of a book! There is so much here to soak up- the artist spirit is so strong in the characters, the crafting of the story so deft, and the island in summer with its treasures to be explored and respected. It‘s just an incredible reading experience. 2d

#CoverStories

Personally, I find hammocks to be too tippy & I‘m too clumsy to fully relax in them-especially drink in hand, but the #Hammock on the cover of this cookbook (from my collection) looks pretty comfortable. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Aims42 Lol, you aren‘t wrong about them being tipsy especially with a drink 😆 5d

This was a reread for me. I originally read it 11 years ago but just recently saw that an adapted series will be coming out sometime this year, so I wanted to refresh my memory. What I found so enthralling this time was the reader‘s (Ariadne Meyers) voice and delivery at the end. Almost brought me to tears and nearly pulled my heart out of my chest. If you‘ve not read it on audio, I‘d definitely recommend!

I loved the days when we all rooted for the underdog. Korman is a fantastic writer of friendship tales and this is no different.

I love this place and these characters. Thankfully, I still have a few other Hilderbrand books to read. I also read this on the beach in St. John & loved that small parts of this book were set there.
This is my February #DoubleSpin book.
