A Brushstroke with Death
A Brushstroke with Death | Bethany Blake
4 posts | 1 read | 3 to read
Bethany Blake, author of the nationally bestselling Lucky Paws Petsitting Mysteries, launches a charming new spinoff mystery series featuring an artist and art teacher with a magical gift for solving murders. Near the creek that runs behind her Pennsylvania house, Willow Bellamy has converted an old barn into an art school--though the place does still have some animal inhabitants, including Rembrandt, the owl who lives up in the rafters. And while it's important for any artist to have a vision, Willow can sometimes see things others can't, just like her mother and grandmother before her. Not that she would exactly call herself a witch... When some local merchants gather in the studio for a painting party, they focus their attention on a still life with flowers and an assortment of garden tools, including antique pruning shears that disappear--at the same time despised restaurant owner Evangeline Fletcher is murdered. Willow must use all her gifts to find the killer, although it means teaming up with a handsome, mysterious detective whom Willow fears she may have accidentally conjured from a canvas. This investigation is sure to be a hoot...

This was enjoyable. Enough so that I'm annoyed there aren't anymore in the series yet 🤣🤣. I do relish a story about a modern #witch.

3 🧹🧹🧹 (instead of stars...get it? Sigh. I'll see myself out)

Two on my #scarathlon2022 #tbr. I do believe the Agatha Christie is the ugliest edition I've ever seen. But it is #black and there's a #cat on the other one! Here's hoping I actually read them 😂😂

I got the sticker off the cover without tearing or marking the cover!! I do understand wanting everyone to know it is an exclusive edition (Barnes & Noble) but I really HATE stickers put on my books!!

This cozy looks fun to read so snagged a copy. I dont like stickers on the covers though!! I‘m going to attempt to peel it off without damaging my book....wish me luck!!

BarbaraTheBibliophage The secret to getting stickers off safely is using a blow dryer to heat the adhesive. I saw you found a way, but thought I‘d share this little tip. 💕 4y
akaGingerK Seconding @BarbaraTheBibliophage ‘s tip. We actually kept a blow dryer in the back of a bookstore where I used to work for this purpose! 4y
Juliwyant Thanks for sharing!! Will make it so much easier to remove them without damaging my books! 4y
